The black helicopter pilot at the end of the movie was also the man who played the Predator AND the Bigfoot "Harry" in "Harry And The Hendersons". He died tragically on April 10, 1991 from a tainted blood transfusion after a car accident. R.I.P. Kevin Peter Hall. 🙏❤️✝️❤️
Dutch's rank is that of Major. Not sergeant. Mac was addressed as sergeant in this film. It's possible that your closed caption got it wrong when Mac yelled after Blain died and grabbed the minigun. Some closed caption versions interpret Mac yelling Sergeant! Which makes no sense. No one else was a sergeant. Other versions say Contact!! Which completely makes sense. -OG
Mac going after the Predator alone and chanting, I'm gonna have me some fun over and over is not him losing it. These words were part of the lyrics of the song played in the chopper at the beginning of the movie. Blain was into music. We know this from his MTV shirt before the Predator blew a hole through his chest. Mac was simply honoring his friend with the lyrics. Mac had a score to settle. So did Dillon. He lost Hopper and his men. He also realizes the CIA corrupted him. He betrayed his friend. He sought redemption. -OG
Honestly, this is Schwarzenegger's best acting performance. This movie is one of the best movies coming out of the '80s. Definitely the top five sci-fi/horror movies. It starts off a solid action flick of the '80s. Just the opener itself with the Central/South America military operation would make a dang good movie by itself. But then you add survival horror at the midpoint. Flawless!
Predator mimicking and taunting Dutch's men is not only intimidating 😳 but downright scary, too! Especially when the Predator uses Billy's laugh at the end of the film before the Predator nuked himself! -OG
Blain was obviously not racist, as Mac was his best friend. His reasons for disrespecting Dillon were not race related. As I understand it, Dillon was not part of their team and Blain didn't trust him. Mac also didn't appreciate Dillon's clumsiness in the jungle.
Dutch himself was buddy buddy with Dillion, and then went cold as soon as Dillion said he was going with them. Dutch gives him a sudden hard stone faced look before telling us his team always works alone.
Yeah, he didn't like Dillon as he saw him as nothing but a suit, and an outsider. Saying that though, Jesse's character is white, and it's 2024, so that obviously means he's a wacist. There's no other explanation for it.😏
This movie has always been "The S**t" when it comes to classic action movies. Total just Bad Assery all around. A right of passage to see this wonderful gem of a flick.
I'm glad they don't reveal too much about the Predator in this movie. They say less is more. The less you know about the Predator, the scarier he becomes! But it's also twofold. The less you know about the Predator, the more we want to know what makes him tick! The perfect formula for a sequel! -OG
By the way, that man said “Padla” in Russian, this actor is actually a friend of Arnold and often starred in his films but in very small roles, I especially want to mention Terminator 2 where he has the role of a security guard in a gallery, few people know where he is in the frame and I know!
It is absolutely amazing to me how the country has devolved over the years when it comes to seeing racism lurking everywhere, including where it doesn't exist in the least. It was spelled out in the previous scene by the unit commander that this unit works alone and without interference from anyone, so it is simple math that this CIA operative is considered an interloper by members of the team.
Nah. Not at all. You just choose to not understand how much abuse people of color in society have experienced often with men who look like Jesse being the tormentors. I am betting without knowledge of how the movie focuses later on Blaine and Mac's relationship that A LOT of people in the audience wondered if Blaine was a racist hick asshat in 1987. Because again... Racism existed then and exists now and it's a part of people's life experience... Some folks just want to pretend things are otherwise.
@@miguelvelez7221 Whites in the Balkans experienced FAR worse form of slavery from Ottomans. 😂 You do not have exclusive rights to the victimhood of slavery.
One great thing about this movie, and his aspect of horror, we don't see the predator at the start. We don't really get to see him until well into the movie! That's just really good that keeping that dread and suspense going.
Blain was not racist when he spat his chew all over Dillon's boot. He didn't care about Dillon's past friendship winning badges of honor. Dillon was now CIA and stepping on their toes. Dutch and his team always work alone. They have each other's backs. Dillon has been out of the Army for a while. He's an unknown element that could get them killed. Even Mac warns Dillon that if he gives away their position one more time that he'd bleed him and leave him there to die. -OG
Yeah you right. Those racism cards everytime there is an interaction between a white and a black character without to understand why the white guy acts like that (as you explained) is so stupid….sad to see so much peoples blinded by racism instead of understand nature of relationship which has nothing to do with racism…
Please react to Predator 2, we have Danny Glover and Bill Paxton in that one. Also Alien V Predator after the sequel. Predator has always been my number one movie with Arnie. I have been told in the past that Native Americans were more honourable drawing first blood, Billy knew he may not get close to cut the Predator so he drew his own blood to still have the honour in his hand to hand combat.
Theres some incredible directing here. When the soldiers see the Predator often times they're filmed in slow motion, showing how hard it is to react to the Predator, then when it shows the predator, its moving very fast to come kill them. The scene with Dillon dying to the predator is the best example of this.
In many Native American tribes, the warriors would cut the chest as a way to say, "this is my heart, the heart of a warrior". He stayed to die not running in fear but standing his ground like a true honorable warrior. This movie did a great job honoring Native American and modern U.S. Military warriors.
Its an awesome movie...saw it in the theaters in 1987...its a emotional ending...you see a battle harden soldier turned into a broken man...Dutch lost his team, friends, brothers in arms, realized we are not alone in the universe and felt fear for the first time...
I've been seeing this film since 30 years since I'm a kid, sometimes in new formats, on retrospective, even with John McTiernan in the audience few years ago, it never disappointed me. I'm always always fighting for Anrold's life in this, I think this is a masterpiece
The CIA have never been known as trustworthy by the military. Dutch's team is a special forces team, probably comprised of men from different branches of the military. Blain aka the tobacco spitting big man operating "Old Painless", was played by former professional wrestler and Minnesota governor Jesse "The Body" Ventura and was a REAL LIFE Navy SEAL during Vietnam. He and the man playing "Poncho" were the only two actual war veterans in the movie.
Supposed to be Central America in Nicaragua 🇳🇮, but in the movie said “Guatemala” en the 80s, but I don’t remember that Guatemala has connection with Russia 🇷🇺, the only and only one that I know that has connection with Russia is Nicaragua 🇳🇮 and no other countries of Central America.
There is another moment at the very end of the film, an actor / friend of Schwarzenegger appeared on a helicopter, his name is Franco Columbu :) but he is not listed in the credits, because he did not get into the frame, it's a pity, of course.
Arnold dominated the action movies of the 80s. But his opponents were always so much smaller than he was. Arnold was always so much bigger and stronger 💪 that it was never any wonder who would win in the end! However, this movie was different. We actually wondered if Arnold would make it out alive! It helps to have an actor who is 7' 3" tall to play the Predator, of course! Actor Kevin Peter Hall played the Predator. He also played Bigfoot in Harry and the Henderson's. A fun family film. I recommend giving it a watch! 👍 -OG
Both Predator and the first Terminator film have small elements of horror. I actually like that contrast mix with some elements of sci-fi and elements of action. Perfect if it's all evenly paced. I think they are! -OG
Actually racism has less influence today than perhaps at any time over he last 500 years. Far less. It wasn't talked about, just accepted as a norm of life.
I think this is such a unique film. It starts out as a typical 80s war movie and then changes genre and becomes a horrific gore monster film that also happens to be an extraterrestrial! -OG
@longfoot Dumb. Once the skin is SATURATED with heated water, there's no relief by sweating. Wisk it away and start fresh. It's about the evaporative process being overwhelmed.
ive seen an ungodly amount of predator reactions, and yours was, hands DOWN, the best! you reacted the way i felt the first time i saw it, you were picking up everything, you hardly skipped anything of the film, a good length, as this classic surely deserves! i saw bits at the beginning i'd long forgotten about! wow wow wow no 1🥇🏆
What a cast! RIP Apollo Creed, Dillon Carl Weathers, may u live on forever! Jesse Ventura was an ex operator and actually bigger than Arnold, and they were never filmed standing together! Bill duke was an amazing actor...juliard trained and amazing in American jiggolo! Billy was a complete wildman and had 2 guys for 24/7 security. Not for his protection but to keep him out of trouble!! The helicopter pilot is the Predator! They gave him one speaking line, so he could get a film credit and his sag card! There's many more predator films and Alien vs Predator! There's also a much larger tie in here. Aliens predators humans Replicants and Terminators are all related by a race of beings called Engineers, discussed in the movie Prometheus! In the 80-90s, Arnold was the absolute movie king of the one liners/memes! So many to repeat, but the most repeated line and meme in history is, " I'll be back!" Hard to believe this movie is almost 40 years old! A future governor of California, Minnesota and candidate for Kentucky in this! Bill Paxton RIP, in part 2, is the only person in Hollywood, who was killed by a Terminator predator and Alien! There's a larger tie in here. In Prometheus the prequel to all. The being in the chair with it's chest blown out is a Engineer. Engineers seed life on planets and watch the progression. If they don't like how the life is progressing they seed another life to wipe out the remaining then they destroy each other. Engineers created humans Aliens and supposedly Predators and gave humans the technology for Replicants and Terminators!! Also Weyland Corp, Tyrell Corp and Cyberdyne Systems. In shotts in this movie u see resumes of the Crew. Dallas worked for Tyrell Corp 😮😮😮 That's Bladerunner! Cyberdyne Systems supplied tech for Tyrell Corp and Weyland Corp! Weyland Corp did industrial and flight operations for Tyrell Corp! Tyrell Corp is Bladerunner and Weyland Corp is Aliens! Cyberdyne Systems is Terminator!
half of team was real soldiers in real life , Seal team , ex vVetnam war etc , Billy was extremely dangerous person ..this movie is pakt with T-rex guyz for real
The helicopter pilot at the end is the same guy who played the Predator, Kevin Peter Hall. I forget his exact height, at least in the neighborhood of 7 feet. Also played the Bigfoot in Harry and the Hendersons
predator 2, predators, prey, as for alien watch alien, aliens, (if youre a fan alein 3, but i dont reccomend) then thats it, dont watch any of the goyslop that is the avp franchise ....trust
Pro tip! before you start watching Predator 2, you must first watch the Alien movie, at least the first two parts, and then watch these two series of movies in order of release date, until you get to the Alien vs. Predator movie
Special Operation teams train an insane amount so they can predict each other's moves and preferences this is key to their effectiveness; Dillon (Apollo Creed) has been running a desk so long he is out of practice throwing off their routines. These types of teams have and respect rank but in field and off they are brothers first rank second. They need to talk and act fast, so ideas need to be conveyed quickly to preserve the mission effectiveness and safety of team members. Jesse Venture the "sexual tyrannosaurus" who operates "old painless", was a Navy Seal in real life who served in Vietnam war.
Billy cutting himself with a knife can also be interpreted as denying the Predator from spilling first blood. That said, it didn't stop the Predator from still collecting his skull as a trophy. Lol. -OG
You should watch Predator 2 and Prey in the same franchise. If you survived Alien 3 witch is the most depressing Alien movie , you should watch Alien 4 and then the prequels Alien Prometheus and Alien Covenant. There is an Alien 5 coming up soon.
Whatever you do don't wash the last few movies. They're pretty garbage, and really all the movies after the second one, just pale in comparison to the first.
