Maya Angelou (1926-2014) wrote autobiographies and poems with focus on the struggles of being a black woman, she gave us "I Know How The Cage Bird Sings" as well as "And Still I Rise". Maya also was a Civil Rights activist who worked with Malcolm X and Martin Luther King.
"You come straight out of a comic strip" is a quote from Jim Kelly's character in the Bruce Lee film "Enter the Dragon". His character/actor was a Black male martial artist with an afro and is the inspiration for Bushido Brown. The line is also a reference to how Huey and the Boondocks franchise was a newspaper comic strip before it became an animated series.
Gin Rummy was voiced by Samuel L. Jackson and Ed Wuncler III was voiced by Charlie Murphy, who was Eddie Murphy’s older brother and passed away back in 2016.
Back in 2005, texting was still seen as gimmick, so Gin view on it not being a valid form of communication was shared by a wide audience. I was ten years old watching this episode & literally told he was speaking the gospel😅
This episode became my favorite because the songs used in the episode is by MF DOOM and I recently got into him a few years ago but didn’t know who he was until I rewatched it
Maya Angelou was an author and civil rights activist that worked closely with Martin Luther king jr and Malcom x. Her most famous book is I know why the cage bird sings many of her works have been turned into movies and tv shows
Awesome reaction as always! Nice to see you singing along I knew it would happen eventually. Next is the rap lol 😂 Bushido Brown is based off 1970s American athlete/martial artist/actor Jim Kelly. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen Bruce Lee’s Enter the Dragon, but he’s the dude with the afro, and has some classic lines. They even try and mimic his voice and some of his quotables. Just a fun fact I never see mentioned maybe some just don’t know. Also, idk if anyone has told you who voices the characters Ed Wuncler III and Gin Rummy, but Ed is voiced by the late Charlie Murphy (Eddie Murphy’s brother) and Gin is voiced by Samuel L. Jackson - which makes their characters even more hilarious
I started watching your boondocks reaction two days ago. Glad you are enjoying the show. Plus in the old days(early 2000s) i remember people thought texting was a stupid trend that would die lol
17:44 don’t talk about my moms yo. You probably didn’t notice the rap artist mf doom has 3 songs in this episodes his song accordion use to play on a adult swim the channel this show aired for years
You might want to block the creepy guy that's in your comments all the time. Not just on youtube but other accounts he can use to communicate with you. He could be problem doubt a dangerous problem but harassing you could be a big thing in the future. Also he's taking too much from everyone else that wants to interact with you cause all everyone can focus on is this a-hole. Be careful OK.
Ed Wuncler III is voiced by Charlie Murphy, and Gin Rummy by Samuel L Jackson. In reference to the only white characters voiced by black actors dropping the bombs lol
