That's actually a thing. Not as bad as he portrays but even after a few days spent sailing with my dad (just a small private boat on a very big lake, where waves are rather tame, I'd be unable to stand completely still. It goes away rather quickly (especially if your used to it).
The drunk on land sober on seas could’ve been down to him portraying sea legs, my grandad was in the merchant navy and spent a lot of time on sea, so when he was on land he would sway a little where his body was used to constant movement
It’s almost more like an HBO product instead of a Disney movie. The foreshadowing and little details they sprinkle in throughout is honestly impressive.
Jack is actually an anti-hero, and there's a lot of nuance with how moral each main character is and how even misconstrued each character's motives are. Barbosa literally wasn't even the bad guy in this one, just an antagonist based on his motives. Also the Commodore wasn't a bad guy, just an antagonist because he hates pirates. Watch at least the original trilogy, because imo the 2nd one works well when fed into the 3rd one, it becomes a full story instead of each video as an arc by themselves.
couldn't have said it better. the good guys sometimes seem like bad guys. and the bad guys can be seen as good guys. Like the Commodore, and the pirates and all the associated peoples. its very interesting and I love it so much
2 and 3 have some all-time moments but they lack the consistency of 1. 1 is just a really good movie period. Also it's hard to believe these movies came out in the mid-2000s. The CGI still looks amazing.
Jack is one as well. He's scummy and he only "saves the day" because otherwise the story wouldn't have a good ending. William Turner is my favorite main character of the series. Barbosa behind him, and then Jack, and in last, the manipulative loose girl named Elizabeth.
First Lord of the Rings now this, you're literally going through my two childhood/teenager favorites, love to see it. Remember to stop after the third one though!
The idea that Jack Sparrow is the guy we follow so he must be a good guy even though he is a pirate isn't right. He still uses, twists, and talks his way out of whatever scenario he can and wherever he can. Jack is selfish, but also always finds a way to look out for Will, and Elizabeth. All of the characters in the 3 movies do this as well but to different degrees. Everyone is nuanced and it is fantastic and true art.
Hey man, I know it's of topic, but I just wanted to say that I'm really missing your clone wars reactions. They are always a good time. Hope you'll get back to it some time soon.
I was never that interested in the POTC series (I prefer my pirates with Straw Hats or being played by Tim Curry and having sword fights with Kermit the Frog). But the first three movies are a lot of fun. This one’s the best but the next two are worth watching due to the villain Davy Jones.
Take it from me, nice guys finish last. Jack Sparrow was a back stabbing a-hole, and I loved every second of it. Watch the rest. Bodies drop permanently
There are like 400 comments already about the sequels but I didn't see my spicy take among them yet, so nyah: Two is kinda bad but it sets up three which is pretty good. (Specifically, I recall 2 having more wasting time set pieces kinda like the ending fight dragged slightly here, although TBH I don't remember either one of them for much detail because I've never had the urge to rewatch them, unlike the 1st.)
Nah, the second one was just as good as the first one. The third one was flawed but still entertaining as hell and way better than most blockbusters that came out in the last ten years.
@@geekedforlifewhile 2 and 3 can be fun enough you are the first person I've met that thinks 2 and 3 are better than the first. I'd say 2 and 3 are average but every movie after is just complete trash.
