@@daisuke910 It wouldn’t. Gareth Evans (director) revealed the original plan for Raid 3 and said it would not follow Rama at all. He couldn’t justify Rama risking his life and his family again and felt that if he did, he would actually deserve to die this time. He said it would instead follow the Japanese crew as they are hunted down by someone who betrayed them and chased into the forest. They would be unfamiliar with the terrain and be like prey escaping a hunter. It was going to be a much shorter movie too, around 90 minutes. He fully acknowledged that if this movie ever came out, it would no doubt piss off the fans of the first two movies 😂
@@muhammadalifendriva5063 the director didn't try to make it like The Raid, the approach that the director took was different, TNCFU highlighting the gore more while The Raid explore the martial arts as the highlight, yes The Raid films are more technical in terms of martial arts (or more faster) but TNCFU has its own thing and identity and it's almost different sub genre with The Raid, TNCFU is action martial arts with slasher influence, Timo and Gareth are friends anyway and they're both great lol, they were on something when they made Safe Haven hahaha
I thought the The Raid 2 was the single greatest action film when I first saw it in the theater. 8 years later and I still feel that it deserves it's title. And you're right about how surprising it is that Gareth Evans still hasn't yet been given an even bigger opportunity to direct a big budget Hollywood movie when his craft has proven to be so much better than other "more reputable" directors.
It still depends on the actor not only director, if the actor or stunt double doesnt have experience in martial arts that brutal. It cant be happening.
its hard to imagine western actors/ actresses pulling off chareography this good. Likely they would have to import choroegraphers from the East too inorder to create anything close to this level. I mean think about it, whats the best martial arts movie from hollywood? Undisputed comes to mind and even that move is nothing compared to Raid. I think asians just do this better, its hard to emulate when you dont have the build or the martial arts background.
The Raid 1&2 are movies made to promote Indonesian martial art of Pencak Silat. The fight choreos were based on it. And the "sickle" is called Karambit. One of traditional Pencak Silat weapon.
Given that they've already nodded to the Raid side by putting its big bads in John Wick 3, I'm surprised the John Wick people haven't given Gareth a chance to direct a John Wick film
I'll be honest, I think John Wick's direction of action is spectacular, the knife fight of the third for me surpasses even the last one from Raid 2, but when it comes to story and action, Gareth surpasses John Wick to spare, maybe he'd be good in that sense of tying up the story well with the action.
i love jack's excitement throughout the whole reaction, pretty much mirrors my feelings about what i think is the best modern action film to come out in recent years
Imagine being him. The rookie cop, on his first raid, end up being lost for around 5 years trapped in that kind of situation. The poor dude just wanna go home to his family lmao.
and now the wait for The Night Comes For Us has begun. Julie Estelle's (Hammer Girl) best performance as The Operator 👌 but also the characters in TNCFU are so colorful and lovable especially Fatih and White Boy Bobby for me 🤘
The hammer girl killed by her own hammer, the bat guy killed by his own bat, and the karambit boss killed by his own karambit, our hero came with empty handed, goes with victory.
Thanks for watching this lads. I haven't rewatched this in a few years. Personally my favourite action movie of all time! Also, have you seen Gangs of London yet? Its Gareth Evans latest project.
So Gareth Evans finds Iko Uwais (main character) of the raid movies, but he makes him the first movie called Merantau, u both better check that, thanks, nice react
No. He met iko when he was supposed to be making a documentary about pencak silat. He iko and yayan make merantau together on purpose as their first movie
The Raid 2 was written before the first one but Garreth couldn't get the funding, so he made the first Raid to get the funding for this one. I think I read somewhere that martial arts gets taught in schools, unsure how true it is. But would explain why everyone knows at least the basics
I see this comment a lot and, not saying it doesn't have some good fights in it, but for me personally it went too far in the gore direction, like someone was trying to make a Raid film for edgy 13 year olds. But it'd make for a good reaction video 😄
@@SocialBobcat I saw this kind of comments a lot in other videos too, idk why people always trying to compare The Raid series with TNCFU, they're literally so much different, I mean I get it that most of the actors and fight choreographers are the same from The Raid but TNCFU didn't try to be like those films, the director had different approach, concept and idea, they tried to do different things, I mean almost all of Timo's films are violent and gory as hell and that's just like his style, TNCFU imo achieved what it wanted to be, what the filmmakers wanted it to be like, it is great in it's on way, a slasher flick that's fusing with martial arts action, but some people discredited it, some even saying it trash just (maybe) because they expected it to be like Raid films when in reality the film didn't even trying go to that direction
@@SocialBobcat he made a lot of horrors, his first film was a slasher so yeah that's just like his signature ig, he actually worked with Gareth too back in 2013 for one of the segment in V/H/S 2, Safe Haven
ah yes, it is saturday night here. good time to watch your newly upload video. futhermore: it is the raid 2! absolutely my fav!! thanks for the video~~!
Everyone is recommending The Night Comes for Us but I think you should start with Headshot (2018). Both have the same director (Timo Tjahjanto) with a lot of the same cast and Headshot serves as an intro to Tjahjanto's style. Then you level up with TNCFU, if that makes sense.
you know I've never really been a martial arts enthusiast - I come from the time of 'Kung Fu' the tv series with David Carradine and I think I got tired of it- anyway I absolutely love this. Ever since I've seen the John Wick clips I've become a massive fight scene fan. I've always liked action and horror and now I get to add this to the mix. Thanks!
Some CLASSIC old school Martial Arts films you guys really should see that have GREAT fight scenes AND great stories are: Five Deadly Venoms 1978 8 Diagram Pole Fighter 1984 The Victim 1980 Heroes of Shaolin aka Heroes of The Wild 1977
The fact that Star Wars got Iko, Yayan and Ciciep and even Donnie Yen in the movie but didn't give them lightsabers to fight shows how stupid the executives in Disney are!
Some of the cast actually appeared in Star Wars Force Awakens. But sadly they were space pirates instead of Jedi or Sith. Also, I heard that Gareth Evans supposed to direct a Deathstroke movie or a show. Btw, you guys should watch Merantau. It’s the movie that started their movie careers.
this movie stuck to me for a very long time. not even john wick which has fight scenes after fight scene can hold a candle to this movie. raid 2 just went with here's the story and few dialogues, now brutal choreographed fight scenes. this is i would say a quintessential action movie. we don't need 1 hr of exposition, we need that dopamine.
Gareth himself said he's no more interested to continue the franchise so he revealed the whole plot of The Raid 3. Rama won't be the main protagonist in The Raid 3, but he's not dead. He's just done with this kinda underworld business. With this big changing, gareth's worried that The Raid 3 would ruin the franchise and fans gonna hate it.
You know the history of the Mongolian army, which the world feared would lose in Indonesia or the archipelago kingdom because of the archipelago's pencak silat martial arts
Obligatory recommendations post haha: Ong Bak (muay thai martial arts film), Project A or Police Story (peak 80s Jackie Chan), Fist of Legend (peak Jet Li)
You might have to find a subbed version yourselves, but here's an obscure martial arts film for you. It's called Operation Scorpio/The Scorpion King (1992).
Hi guys ^^ I just wanted to know if you'll be interested to react to the matrix trilogy ? It's a great saga (and was praised in the early 2000's to be as epic as star wars & lord of the rings). And the best news is the fourth one is coming on HBO max on december 2021
This is gonna be a random request but I'm just realising only one other person on RU-vid has reacted to it! Its a horror movie called Vacancy. Not sure of you've seen it, but i think its an unknown gem! If you guys ever run out of movie ideas 💡 "VACANCY" (2007)
Can you guys watch “apocalypto” It’s based on the old Indian tribes were they have been raided and a man fights for his survival and to save his family while getting rid of the people who attacked his tribe
Would love to see you guys react to the man from nowhere (2010).Its another Asian action movie. Its the movie that heavily inspired John wick . I would say its better in many ways . Its final fight is arguably the greatest knife fight scene ever
