First track day of the year using the Aim Smartycam - Thruxton Circuit

Besides the high-end electronic tuninning meter display , his own body is another added platform of diagnosing the car as he can tell what was not right or need improvements during his test run on the circuit ....... Just fantastic indeed....

Another option to add the Aim data onto video is RaceRender. I use it for my videos. It's inexpensive. And the motor definitely sounds better, it's singing nicely now.

It sounds really fit the display is an added bonus your definitely having some fun great build 👍👨🏻‍🏭

Such a brilliant project. Unbelivable to think one of the cars was scrapped and the other was pretty much scrap and now they are both doing up to 103mph. That's success.

Loved the video...the engine is running really well, by the sounds of it, with smooth power throughout the rev range, testament to the good mapping. When we've all been on the Mongrel building journey with you....its superb seeing you drive it on the track getting better results each time. I have a cat camera phone with a flir infra red thermal camera built in, would be great for checking tire temperature spread

can see what you mean about the traction. Apart from that and obvious gearing she's running hard man. It's going a damn sight faster than the picture really suggests eh!? It's such a professional setup with the AIM lap timer and camera buddy. I enjoyed watching as though it was a test session and now we know what three adjustments to go after. In fact hat is as much fun watching a race cam as I've had in quite a number of months now, thanks Matt. Maybe a set of nice sticky Michellin wets would be sweet on the greasy days? I couldn't see if you were getting a dry line on this device here. Enjoy brother. Fully earned it!

That looks good Matt, the race info on video. A different final drive will certainly improve your top speed, the step not too big, otherwise the engine won't pull it anymore.

Definitely the overlay makes the video more fun to watch.

Ok Matt, that was 2 minutes of "I promise, I do not break as much as it looks" ;) Car sound fantastic though and once the tires are sorted, its a 1.34/35 time in the box there. And that is faster than Tiff Needell in a Lotus Elise S1 :)

Well done, the overlay is looking good. I would guess that the lifting off is fooling the the brake indication, maybe it needs to be less sensitive. Certainly the data acquisition will help you get the car dialed in. Your G figures look impressive to me for a car without aero tricks, though I don't have anything to compare. Good to see you enjoying the car, a very impressive piece of fabrication.

That experienced. If you look the tires profile over, do you get a fairly clear understanding for how much camber tweak is required ? Applause for you torch talents & equally your video work ! Also don't you imagine the scrappy track condition/ cold temp, moisture was a major player .Do you have tire warming wraps..best to you 🎈

I really like the overlay and the more information that you can add to it the better, the Mushy Pea was going beautifully and you are right you can her the difference in the engine, you certainly didn't have the right suspension settings for Thruxton's long corners.

Great content love the track day experience.

The gearing seems just fine for the power output. Maybe a bit tall, but not too tall. To shave seconds off, you might need a taller tyre, and definitely need a cold air intake. And I'd still argue there's hp trapped in those ports. And cam lobes.

Addition of the telemetry really adds to video. Making changes to the gearing seems to me to be great idea for circuits with long straights - can you easily alter the top gear ratio, or are you looking only at the final drive ratio (and leaving the option to swap in a different ratio for tighter tracks)?

that has to be frustrating when 160hp gets you the same top speed as a stock golf from 1975. hopefully you can get that fixed with gearing.

Matt, if the GPS is reading deceleration or tyre scrub as braking can that be programmed to be slightly less sensitive maybe?
