Don't stay too much in the middle of the puddle when welding vertical. you can do a weave motion focusing on the more of the toes of the weld. Keep a mental note of how long you pause. For me, I just count 1-2, then drag the puddle to the other side of the weld. 85 amps is good but again, remember that it gets hot on you the higher up you go, so you need to adjust your speed a little when you approach to the end of the weld.

Notice that he does not focus too much in the middle and "drags" the puddle along. Gravity is really against you so keep note of your puddle! it can really build up on you if you do not pay attention.
