Luke, everyone gets negative comments. Cooking channels, woodworking youtubers, garden channels. I have never seen any channels not get negative comments. There is just a wide range of stupidity, insecurity, or lonliness in these people that makes their world just a s**t hole that they love to drag others down there.
@Dave White Thing is, you can't create a full home in a minivan if you're building for two adults. You get a mobile bedroom and possibly a kitchen [I'm putting mine in the back hatch for cooking from outdoors.] Many [probably most?] women want a little more home than that.
Just people redirecting their own issues towards someone else (even if they don't know they're doing it). It's just sad, and pathetic really. Foresty Forest guy is a true Canadian!
You are one of the most creative persons with so much ingenuity that I have witnessed in a long time. Please don’t allow anyone to make you think less of yourself, or doubt your methods. I am looking forward to your future adventures and chapters of your life. The people who have you in their lives are very fortunate.
Your minivan layout will help many who might lose their housing in the future. Your work here can help lot of people who must live in their vehicle. This is awesome.
I really like it. You did an amazing job! You cannot tell someone is living in there, this is true stealth. Also it is so homey looking inside, sometimes these conversions can seem sad and depressing because it look like you are living out of a vehicle in them, but yours actually looks like a bedroom in a home. If I ever converted a van I think I would use your layout. I really like how it turned out.
He also reduced alot of weight by removing the seats the front seat is like 80lbs back is probably 80lbs he probably added 300lbs but it's not that much.
It's funny to watch these old videos, how he didn't want to cook in the van, little did he know what the future would bring! and how the channel would turn from minivan into slow cooker videos :p
You are amazing and what you did with your minivan is unbelievable!! Having just purchased a Dodge Grand Caravan, I watched tons of minivan conversion and there is nothing quite like yours in the world of RU-vid. Congratulations on your new job and thanks for sharing.
I was paying 1K rent x 5 years $60,000. I bought a van 2019 converted it, and put the rest of my stuff in storage. $400 payment +100 ins. =500 However, my gas has gone down from commute about 200 + 1000 I save on rent =1200 savings. I’ll have it paid off in 2 years (double payment). No commute, no over bearing landlord, parking over night is a breeze. Best of all I’m saving money. 👍👏😄
Catt's Box sleeping in a van to save 300 doesn’t sound substantial enough for such drastic living change.i mean if you like van life cool but you sound like you’re just after savings.and living in a car saves me 300 over a house hahaha I’d say the extra 300 for not living in a fucking car well worth it but that’s just me
Super rad build. Super rad vid. Fortunate that you found a night job. Cuts down the heating bill and increases safety. Now that you have all this good stuff done, gradual saving towards a stretched cargo van would be wise, so that your next vehicle, some years in the future, can provide you with additional comforts. Good work. Good Life management. Have a wonderful spring.
I love the way you cut up the van space length wise. It amazes me how much room/usage you get out of a relatively small mini van. It looks cozy without being cramped.
Totally customized to your requirements. Nice workable design that I like aswell. Once you get that diesel heater, which I hear works very well you will be nice and comfy anywere you decide to park for a sleep.
I'm on the electronics side of things, so I watch this type of stuff all the time to learn/see what's possible. I was skeptical with minivan in the title. But, you have a great setup. It's beyond great for the inside space of a minivan.
The great thing is that you make these videos so simply! And that makes them so enjoyable to watch. I miss the days of making the simple videos. I get way too technical with videos these days. I really like your style. Keep up the good work.
Think about someone like Bald and Bankrupt, just an action cam on a selfie stick.. Simple and raw production but very entertaining. I really like your drone shots and I was thinking of going the same route. But it seems like storytelling and personality adds so much. I never used to talk in my videos and my channel was stuck for many years.
I like how he actually reads his comments, because in his original video of this van someone commented about painting the solar panels black to make it look like a bike rack. He did that. Also i saw people commenting about the chair too which he did implement.
I still can't believe how much you've sneezed into the space. A van conversion is never finished, as some improvement or other always comes to mind. Great job.
Dude! You've done such a good job on building your van! It makes me want to start over on my van for the adventure of building a designing a small space to live in. To me that was the fun part about starting all the van life stuff. I miss that aspect of it.
I think you've really done the absolute most you could do with every inch of space you have. It's a fascinating and daring idea you came up with and I for 1 am super impressed! It looks so clean, modern and tidy and really somewhere you can close the door on the world without giving up your hobbies and comfort. Bang on brother!
Okay, seriously you are doing what I thought of doing a few years back when i was thinking about becoming a vandweller. It's taken me a while, but I now have a '79 Dodge van with a high top I am remodeling to suite my needs better. Kudos on your project. You are right on the walls: Flat walls are easier to work with for the build.
Very stunning build, I love the bike locker area, I live in a teardrop because stealth is not important, Im a over the road semi driver, Ive used diesel heaters for many years, I have found straight #1 or kerosene burns much cleaner and saves rebuild time, Thanks so much for posting and sharing your ideas. Safe travels!🌷
Love your build and lifestyle choices. Good for you! Do things the way that YOU want to do them, and ignore the jealous, insecure and envious people who don't have a fraction of your intelligence, determination and adventurous spirit. Life is too short to deal with those types of idiots.
I find your lifestyle realy interesting and inspirational, I live in Germany and have basically everything I own in an apartment not bigger than 50 square meters. You are far more efficient and flexible. Are there more people like you? Best regards from the old country.👍
spent 7 years traveling living out of a chevy van with my partner, with some time spent renting and living alternatively. Cabins in the woods, earthship in taos NM, and now we are settling down finally, living off grid in the woods building from scratch. Feels amazing after the long sojourn. Wishing you all the best friend. Offer stands, Come camp with us anytime.
Love your vids and your ingenuity , you're a worker a goer and a survivor. Hope all goes well for you and that all things in your life fall into line. Keep on keeping on!
great build also being in the little box is sort of more stealth because to me if someone was looking in the window they might not think someone was living in there and the box was for storage or something. the box makes it so you are not having all the windows covered with window covers. If you can make a door instead of a curtain for the enclosed space and lock it that also adds security and privacy and stealth. The curtain makes it look more like a living space but a door could make it seems for outside viewers more like storage.
Thanks for the great updates. Your Fat Bike adventures have my attention. Your planning and determination are amazing and I think about your saying walking is too slow and driving is too fast. A wonderful perspective and the morning you were above seven thousand feet and next time you might go by Joshua Tree and the other thing was White Rim Road which I saw from the park but did not drive. Looking forward to the same thing you are, your next grand adventure. Have watched all you videos many times. Honda Civic and rocks, what a combo. Having ridden bicycles many miles in the 1970's the best places left to ride are the kinds of locations you travel. You have never mentioned it, the feeling you have descending a 12,000 foot mountain has to be beyond words or the vastness of 100 mile long flat valleys.
You are living the dream of me and many others! Consider a jigsaw window for the bulkhead behind the seat... for space for your feet. Inspirational so far.
We're in awe of your ingenuity. You've got quite a cozy nest there. So happy for you. Hope you're laughing all the way to the bank 'cause you deserve it. Best regards!
It's so true doesn't matter what people say you build it to your necessity and I think you did a great job for tiny space like that and you still have room for improvement that's the way to think.
The interior build out is pure genius. The dual sliding doors, having a mechanical space as well as additional storage is maximum usage. You couldn't have done better in such a small space. Pure stealth. Just a tip in case you haven't thought about it but you're going to need to beef up the suspension and when you buy new tires get the biggest available. And get ready to go to replace wheel bearings. Love your videos I'm actually living aboard and rebuilding a 45ft sailboat on the gulf coast. Love the vagabond life. Good luck with your project and I'll be looking for your new videos.
Fabulous fantastic super! I lived in something similar. Remember to have a carbon monoxide warning sytem! Even the diesel heater and your little stove can produce carbon monoxide. Enjoy! A deep bow of respect.
I think you did a remarkable job the reason you’re getting negative comments is because you’re very hard on yourself and self denigrating in the video so you’re drawing that energy to you be proud of yourself and what you’ve accomplished you are very creative and inventive
Your videos are very well put together ! You would make a very good commercial camera person. You seem to have a artistic eye which comes out in your videos + Your conversion is by far the best Ive seen for this size of vehicle, well thought out & makes perfect sense. I look forward to watching your future successes !
I really like how the living area looks modern, light and ergonomic! And your zone idea looks great, with everything in it's allocated space. Tailoring your van to fit your needs and tastes is a major undertaking, and to do it in a van this size requires something else again. And you certainly have that in abundance! Very well done, you should be feeling quite proud of yourself, and Japanese Capsule Hotel designer's will probably be feeling a touch envious too!
It’s amazing that you manage to keep all of your tools you need to carry out the work.... In the van you live in! Simply amazing, please let me know where you keep all your tools
You're an absolute inspiration friend. I'm working my way through all your videos and have subscribed - i love how you provide updates and overviews of everything. You've done great with the van, looking forward to the rest of the videos and any more to come in the future! Thank you, you've added a positive value to my day!!
This looks like a passion project. Really well thought out. It has architecture and style and functionality. You are a natural designer. I am not sure about your dislike for your solar encasing but it looks more stealth than an aluminum frame. I am about your height and this will be great for me one day.
Holy cow. There are people who do this sort of thing with trucks and cargo vans. And this dude right here made a functional apartment in fucken dodge caravan. That takes skill
Looks awesome man. That mini exhaust fan in the ceiling worked out so perfect. Hidden under the panels, wooden frame looks good, bed upgrade makes sense. All around good work. 💪
Your process of thought shows in your build. While in your living space I forgot you were in a minivan. Love your window. It seems you hava place for everything in your build. The lines and joints on your walls are clean. Beautiful job. And believe it or not haters do help to inspire us. Keep rising.
