Skim your chapters girl! Read anything that’s in a box or chart and in bold print. You will not have time to read everything in nursing school and it will be so overwhelming and a waste of study time :/ then after lecture go back and read over what your professors emphasized or made a point to get across. Girl, let me tell you, nursing school during covid is a WHOLE OTHER ball game hahahah im just starting my second semester... she is ROUGH, but its just gonna make us better nurses in the ling run right?! you hear how hard nursing school is beforehand, now add a pandemic and all online school...🙂 its hard, but still worth it every day!!!

Im just entering my second week of nursing school and i can totally agree with you about how overwhelming and tedious the readings are, as well as trying to make actual good notes just from reading but also not waste time so you can do other assignments! :// we got this!! Hey girl! I just started my 5th semester in nursing school (I’m in a 4 year program), and like everyone else said, nursing school is a struggle! Especially with COVID 🙄 but we are all in this together!!! One thing I saw another girl in the comments say was to not read whole chapters, and to bounce off her, I agree. You will learn quickly that reading whole chapters isn’t going to be a feasible task. I suggest looking at your learning outcomes/weekly objectives (whatever your profs call them) and finding supplemental info from your book! Also, look up some RU-vid videos! So many good accounts if you’re a visual learner: RegisteredNurseRN, Simple Nursing, Osmosis, and more! No matter what you do, find something that works for you and stick to it! I’m so excited to follow your journey! I hope the best for you! Also, random Q: what printer do you use??? I’m trying to buy one that isn’t an ink hog like the one I have now 😅

I graduate with my bachelors as a RGN in just two weeks. The four years flew by so quickly. Study is important but you’ll learn so much when you’re out on clinical placement in hospital. You will do great and good luck

Sis, this video should’ve been titled, “All Aboard The Struggle Bus”! Just started my first week of nursing hybrid courses, and the color-coding on my calendar was intense. Just start chipping away at it. The reading can definitely be a time-suck, unless you approach it like you’re hunting for exam questions. Also, RIGHT after lecture, read back and clarify/solidify/flag those graphics that were emphasized. You won’t have to start cold turkey a week later. PS your skin is flawlessss. Slay on!

I just finished my first semester 2 weeks ago and start my second term next week. I’m anxiously waiting for my prof. to post the syllabi so I can attempt to get ahead and start planning. The first week mania is normal. It happened to me as well and being overwhelmed is expected. You will get into the groove of things. Best of luck to you!

Can’t wait for nursing school. I apply in December thank god 🎉 I’m such a crack head lol when it comes to assignments. So I’m ready for all the learning and reading I’ll have to do. I’m very strict when it comes to assignments and studying. I turn my phone off and put my remotes away and light a candle and play study music and rotate my body. I walk and read and stand and read and sit and read and yes coffee is key! You got this girl. It is hard but it’s not impossible is what I tell myself

I also finished my first week of nursing school it’s my first semester as well. But we are starting off remotely and so far it’s ok with adjusting but we’re getting through. If your books are downloadable, upload the to bookshelf and have them read to you!! Lab and clinical are so fun! I’m in my second semester and struggling! Getting to know how evolve works is a struggle all on its own!

Your first day was me last Saturday! My school opened our courses up on Canvas last Saturday and we had to have a worksheet and readings done by that Monday for our lecture Zoom! I WAS STRESSED. It was partly because of a short amount of time to get everything done and also because it was a lot to read and take notes (we didn't have PowerPoints up at that point, but now they are up). I was also stressed because I wasn't sure how to organize my notes. It took me about 3 different methods until I was able to figure out what worked best for me and what saves time. This is what works for me: I read the chapters and highlight, go through the summaries in the back of each chapter, in lecture I take notes on the Powerpoint, and watch youtube videos. I am a digital student, so I take notes on my iPad via Goodnotes and originally I wanted to take all hand written notes from the readings, but that didn't work at all. I was finding my self stressing over getting everything written down and it ended being so time-consuming. I was wasting hours of my time! A week later, I can say I am less stressed. In fact after lecture day on Monday and my lab day on Thursday, I felt better. I am 2 weeks ahead with everything that's due except for Shadow Health (clinical simulation) and the worksheets that are due in order to enter my 2 lab classes. Now, I am just using Evolve (my school uses that same company) to help me practice my lab skills, being that I am the first group (our school at to split us up in groups due to COVID) to have in person clinical at our local hospital starting the 2nd week of September. I also start my 12 week nutrition course during that same week. Nursing school definitely has been stressful in just the first week, but I sacrificed about 2-3 days/nights, so I can have time to study and relax (watch my fav show law and order SVU, take a nap, etc.) when I want to. I'm nervous for my first test in about 2 weeks, but my school has free tutoring where all the nursing students can meet via Zoom and go over whatever we need to with 2 wonderful nurses. So, I will be utilizing that tool. Sorry for the long paragraph, but that was my first week of nursing school! I can't wait to see more videos from you.

Girl, I feel you. I had to read 2 chapters for my genetics course and I literally didn’t think it would ever end! If I find a section from the book I completely can’t wrap my mind around I screenshot it on my computer and paste it in my notes so I can figure it out later!

I went through LVN/LPN school so I had my foot a bit in the mud already. But I'm going to start the RN in January and I already know its gonna be hell. I thought LVN school was bad, I can't wait to start something new lol. I love watching these videos. Makes me more excited for January lol. I know in LVN school, I would watch a lot of study with me videos. But like the ones that are hours long. And it has background noise and it makes you feel like you have a study partner lol

I just graduated high school and my relative recommended me to take nursing it is totally a different course from what I originally had in mind butseems interesting and a good career choice but I just don't know I never imagined myself studying nursing before but now I feel like I could do it I'm just worried that if it doesn't go well I will blame myself for not going for my original choice (mass communication) but this video is nice and gives me an idea on what it would be like.

If you write down some main points before you start to video, or practice what you will say some, it will help you to keep the flow of the video and you won’t want to say “uhmm” to fill the space. . Also, if you click the track inspector button on the top right of the clip when editing, you can control the volume for that music or video. That way you can turn the music down and turn your dialogue up so it’s even. The music is very very loud and you are hard to hear and Id like to hear what you have to say :)

Hmmm I wonder what is the criteria for nursing school.... I started nursing school last Tuesday and our classes are at the school and are clinicals are at the hospital every other week. We aren’t doing anything online, our whole nursing school is in person. I wonder how can these schools give hands on experience and study on a zoom..... I recently spoke to a RN at a hospital and she told me the nursing students who have to resort to online learning through zoom etc, as a preceptor she found the Students who graduated to be far behind and wasn’t ready at all as new hires.
