Heyy! I've had a lot of questions about my degree, specifically placement! I thought it might be helpful/interesting for people to be able to get an honest view on what a clinical placement is like for a first year student in the UK! I hope you enjoy it!

I've just been offered a place to study Children's nursing in London SouthBank and Robert Gordon Uni and am so excited to get started! From a recovering anorexic, it's so nice to hear that working as a student nurse is possible for those of us with an eating disorder :) You're amazing and thank you for giving me hope that I'm ready to do this xx

Thanks for this video it was really helpful! I was wondering what subjects you took at college and how competitive the degree was to get into and also whether you had any work experience to put on your personal statement or ways to make yourself stand out? If you don't have much confidence is being a children's nurse one of those situations that brings you out where you forget about being shy? xxx

health and social care, psychology and biology are great college subjects! it’s not too competitive because nurses are in demand and work experience isn’t a necessity because with covid and age it can be hard to get work experience in health and social care sectors!

I’m a current student at Cov for Children’s Nursing and the process was really good. Everyone in the facility team is lovely and will put you at ease. Good luck!

lostinjapan hey, I do health and social care level 3 at college and it allows you to go into children’s nursing as well as other health and social care professions, idk if this was really helpful aha x

I'm doing a degree in children's nursing in uni. In college I took health Nd social care level 3 Extended Diploma or you could do A- level biology and chemistry. Then apply for uni in Ur final year of college. For btec health and social care you need a minimum of DMM and in most unis DDM (distinction distinction merit) overall to get into uni. Plus maths n English C and above. Just be warned you will come across feeling like giving up so many times in nursing but u have to have a strong mind and understanding further science and maths is very vital in nursing so make sure you have all those things ready x good luck!

Look at unis that you want to go to. Most of them want you to have an a level in a science

I'm going to the university of leeds and they want u to have a certain amount of science which can come from health and social care or a level science

Basically, when we are in uni, we are in uni full time, and when we are on placement, we are on placement full time! :) I hope that makes sense!
