It's so important I feel for teachers to hear this! You are amazing. The end result is what counts, and that is AMAZING that you were able to turn the class around. These tough moments happen so often. Thank you for being so transparent ❤ cant wait to follow your journey this year!
You definitely turned this whole classroom around, loved the video!! 🤍 I’d love to see a video on some of your favorite profesional development books/behavior management books!! As well as which specific systems worked and what didn’t work for you. Subbed!!
I want to become a teacher but I’m afraid I’m not tough or patient enough 🥺 your story is so inspiring! You truly care about the kids and helping them succeed ❤️
Wow! What a crazy first half-year of teaching. Those kiddos were so lucky to have you though! Your perseverance and honesty were incredible. Good luck in the fall!
You're a rockstar!! 🌟 Kids really do need (and love) structure whether they know it or not 😂 I'm sure you really turned their year around and were able to make a positive impact on their lives! So excited for your first full year in second grade! 💛
Wow, I don't think I've ever heard of a demo lesson as an interview- I would have been pretty nervous! What a (half) year you had-- but your students were lucky to have you, and I bet it made you an even stronger educator! 💜
I also teach in a tittle one school and behaviors can be a problem all across. The fact that you were able to jump into a classroom and turn the behaviors around is phenomenal!🌟 That experience is what makes is stronger as a teacher. I have had those tough groups too and when you get “unicorn” students, we are stronger because of the experience that you have had. Do you know if there are behavior problems from the next generation going into 2nd grade for next year?✨💓 I also keep out an eye for that and try to get to know them, most of the time they act out because something is not okay at home🥺
I’m a first year 2nd grade teacher and I’m thinking about using the WBT super improver wall because I don’t like the idea of clipcharts... Is this something you used?
Miss Campbell's Creators Whole Brain Teaching, they have their own Facebook groups, YT videos and TPT stores if you want to learn more. But for the super improver wall. It contains I believe 12 different stages, and throughout the year the students would earn 5-10 stars to be able to move up a stage (they never move down). Then when they complete a stage they get to take that home and get recognition. I’m still new with Whole brain teaching too (I’m in the ARL program) but it something to look up.
It's very disheartening that an admin would allow this to happen. If the previous teacher was this bad, why would they have allowed them to stay so long? Also very disingenuous to allow you to take this position before explaining how this class was...they don't have to talk about the previous teacher, but you deserved the professional courtesy to know the situation. I hate when I hear stories of teachers having mental breakdowns during their year because of student behavior. Your salvation was teaching online....even though it might have been tough...you didn't have to deal with the constant behaviors...how disappointing....a nice ending in terms of making a personal connection with them while online teaching....this won't be the last time you encounter these types of behaviors---and believe me it isn't only at Title 1 schools----it's everywhere unfortunately...I hope next year...whatever kind of year we end up with...will be a good one!
