French nuclear tests irradiate an iguana into a giant monster that viciously attacks freighter ships in the Pacific Ocean. A team of experts, including Niko Tatopoulos, conclude that the oversized reptile is the culprit. Before long, the giant lizard is loose in Manhattan as the US military races to destroy the monster before it reproduces and it's spawn takes over the world.

Despite the complaints and negative reviews, Godzilla having a theropod-dinosaur body plan is actually a cool concept to go for and the music just moments after he emerges from underground and heads toward the fish pile is just so beautiful, period!

it is its own monster. toho used this godzilla on their own movie godzilla final wars and they named it zilla instead of godzilla. but it got dookied on by tohos godzilla in like 1 shot.

The biggest problem with this movie is that it's named Godzilla. If this was it's own monster it'd be well recieved. Hopefully it shows up in the monsterverse as it's own monster.

The animated series was better. Godzilla actually lives and acts more like the Japanese version. Where he doesn't have to die at the end. I never saw the whole show but it was cool

@@appletherapy I was, and I watched them on TV when I was a kid. I thought it’s a great monster movie until Pacific Rim and Legendary Godzilla movies came up. This Godzilla couldn’t do anything other than eating, laying eggs, and destroying infrastructure. Atomic breath lizard Godzilla, on the other hand, wins by a mile.

Terrible story, totally miscast and overall just a bag of shit. Watched this at the cinema and it is still bad to this day. Tho I do watch it now and then. I love to hate it.
