You're an inspiration! When did you start posting your videos on RU-vid? You're a skilled videographer and editor. What source do you recommend for finding new day hikes and short backpacking trips? We've been hiking for about 5 years. My wife is 70 and I'm 74 but we do ok. We prefer not to bushwhack. Our YT channel shows where we hike. We're snowbirds and we winter in the San Diego area so we get to hike sections of the PCT. You're probably the most knowledgeable hiker in the Inland Northwest. Whatever knowledge you can pass on would be great!
You're too kind! I love it that you guys are out there! I've had this you tube channel for over 10 years now, but I've always been interested in making video content. I still learning something every time I make one. For finding hikes, if you're looking in Washington, the Washington Trails Association website is one of the best resources out there. - wta.org - Many, many hikes, trip reports etc. For N. Idaho, it is much tougher. My main resource is Caltopo.com - I just look over the map of the area I want to hike in and see if there are any trails there and then start looking online for more reports on it. 100 hikes in the Inland Northwest is a book I got years ago and all of the hikes in there are worth doing. www.amazon.com/100-Hikes-Inland-Northwest-Washington/dp/0898869080
Another Fish Lake(s) in the books. I swear Fish Lake is the Smith or Jones names for a lake. A fella has to be very specific when he tells someone they are going to Fish Lake. Good idea on the burger and that Idaho Sexy is a delicious beer .Good to see Double N J out with you.
Admire your attitude Travis! Cold and wet can suck but there’s always something to be grateful for when out in the back country. Really dig the design on that Huckleberry Wheat ❤.
Great scenery from Idaho and welcome rains to keep the fires in check this season. Even if it puts a damper on the outing. Really enjoying the drone work!
Another nice video. Having recently been over that way, we often listen to Patrick McMannis audio books during our trips. I believe it was from the book “How I Got This Way” and he told the story of how he and some buddies ventured to a “Big Fish Lake.” I only saw one Fish Lake on the map of that area, but a lot of it sure fits the description. Of course, they took a shortcut and wound up lost. Hoping that I’m recovered enough from a surgical procedure to get out soon. Maybe this weekend. The Olympics have been haunting me. Thanks again in the mean time for all the vicarious adventures!
There is another Fish Lake in the Selway. Not sure if that is the one. Hope you're able to get out there soon, we're getting into the meat of the season!
Your videos are always good Travis. There is a nice mix of hiking, camping and camp area shots, your Sweet Dog, and the natural beauty all around. Hope you have a real good hiking season. I watched the one where you had leg cramps, and I could relate. I like Nuun. They are hydration fizz tablets that you can put in your water. They work! Not sugary like Gatorade. I've also drank baking soda or salt water in a pinch. That works.
I've used Nuun before (and might even still have a couple tabs in my kit). I've switched over to something called Tailwind though. Not just with me, but I've witnessed this stuff pick people up off of the trail and get them moving again in minutes!
I think the million dollar question is, is there fish in Fish Lake? I’m starting my first ever backpacking trip in Idaho within the next few days! It seems like the state has a lot to offer
Another great trip! Looks like a nice camp. You guys definitely had the lumber jack gear with ya. Was that a Burger McMuffin? 😁 Your dog is so cool! So comfortable out there! At least you had sun for the hike out. You are right! Weather is part of the experience. Good time! Cheers!
@@mountainwanderer awesome! I agree gotta keep meals new and unique. I did a nissin package of vegetables with ramen and added some sriracha over the weekend in the Uintas and it was so good! I will definitely do that one again. I am gonna have to try a McMuffin Backcountry Burger! It's gotta have Sriracha though! I like everything spicy!
@@fightforfreedomneversurren8610 It's officially closed to ATV'S. (Court ruling) But if there is no compliance. There is no law. Forest Service does not have the funds for enforcement of such rules and too remote as well.
It was great to see this this morning! Was thinking of going somewhere in that area soon. Hoodoo pass is obviously open. Want to do a loop up Goose Creek to Fish Lake. ATV traffic picks up in August when fishing starts at Fish Lake. Thanks for sharing! Great video! Hike on!
Doing that loop from Goose to Fish Lake was actually what we intended to do at first! My hiking partner for this trip hurt his knee a couple weeks before this trip and he wasn't sure he could do all of the milage of that loop. I really want to do that ridge walk again, but it is not an easy walk! it worked out on this weekend, because it was cloudy & raining when we would've gone across the ridge. Just puts that route back on the list for another time.
that is a pretty damn big lake, great vid travis. That area back there looks unbelievably relaxing and picturesque. The hand saw is a tool I really need to get especially for winter camping
Nice job, Travis....thanks for the "ride along" to Fish Lake. You guys had a good looking spot to hang out for the weekend. Rain? Oh well, it keeps things green and pushes back on risk of fires, so that's always a good thing. Keep those videos coming! Tom
