@Casey Jones right? I pulled a monster carp out of a creek running through a residential area in the mid 80's. Had some old guy come out with a 'goddamn!' after one catch. @joelmcmahan7386
@joelmcmahan7386 Год назад
I’ve never been around these fish, if you don’t mind me asking, I’ve heard they start to rot inside days before they die. Is it pretty much to late to eat them after they start to run. Just curious cause so many folks line the banks fishing, but I’ve always been told they taste terrible after they start the run. Nice name you got there bud, good fishing to you and yours.
@FishermanJoel
@FishermanJoel Год назад
@@joelmcmahan7386 Hey great name as well lol! So some people go crazy over keeping these salmon I mostly do it for fun. Many people fish to keep the hens (females) to get the eggs from them to use as bait for steelhead season. Once they are in the system for just a few days the meat starts to lose nutrients and it turns a whitish color. It is not the bright pink/orange salmon you would think of. They are good to eat mostly if you smoke them in a smoker. Sometimes people will can them too for use in salmon Patties. Unfortunately they aren’t very good to just cook up in the skillet or oven. I guess really every goes for the thrill if the fight because some of these fish can hit 40 inches and 30+ lbs! They are very hard to catch legally because they only bite out of aggression they stop eating when they enter their spawning stream. Many people snag or “floss” them but as you see in Ty’s video they will bite!!
