I thought about it and was looking for a few good pieces to hang on to! But that deck was built so poorly by the previous owners... most of the wood isn't treated and falling apart. It sucks
I have a question. I just got a silver arowana and it died on me. It was a baby so about 3 inches. I found it on the bottom face down. I hope you could give some advice. My tank is about 3 ft long and 1 ft wide. I have a good filter and airator.
ZAC ! Brother you inspired me ! and incredibly enough my wife said yes, I bought a 110 gallon tub and now have about 20 mosquito fish , 4 minnows of some type , 2 baby bluegills and a tiny yellow bullhead. all the fish came from a creek on the back of my property in East Texas.
I think one massive pond where that other one Gave up Would be really cool possibly a wood one That way you don't have to worry about anything getting broken Or leaking Water Would be a lot safer for pacu So when they get bigger it doesn't possibly break a hole in it Cause I've kept them before and I know how they can be lol
I was thinking of using this for a full grown snapping turtle, but if anyone has experience with this fish pool product, in your opinion, is it physically strong enough to hold one (both the material that holds water and the "scaffolding" that keeps it up)? My main concern would be the big claws it has and its weight, also if it tries to climb and hang on the edge. Any comments would be greatly appreciated
I just bought another baby redtail, a tiger shovelnose, and an asian redtail catfish about a week ago. The rtc and tsn are babies, about 3 inches with the rtc and like 4 1/2 inches with the tsn. The asian redtail is over a foot long but hes not in with the rtc and tsn, hes in his own 125 gallon tank. I have a hottub that i converted into a pond by covering all the jet holes with fiberglass and the inside i used flex tape and flex seal. It has held water for over 24 hours as of now. I would imagine they wont need the pond anytime soon but its there if it is ever needed. I love my monster fish, small fish just isnt for me.
Would you put fresh water stingrays in your new translucent pond?? Was wondering if they could poke through the pond in anyway.. Thanks for any help you can give and great videos!!
I have a pool pond like that it’s only 75 gallons I ordered mine from this place online called MK Aquariums you should check out them online they also have a all clear pond every side is clear and they come in all different size ponds and I got free shipping
I say if you are thinking of going bigger, clean the whole space immaculately, enjoy the beautiful fish you have and put your main energy into your family those adorable girls, wife and child on the way,and then really take the time to explore what might be best for your basement, the fish and your RU-vid channel. 😃😃
That Boswell pond comes in a 900 gallon size would look very nice in that space. Of course building your own will save a lot of cash. If I had space for it I would definitely get the Boswell pond nothing beats the view
I like the idea of the DIY filter and pond (I agree with the comment to try and recycle some of the deck lumber). I also like the comment about a huge tank. There are many RU-vidrs that could give you pointers on that (Matt from Matt’s Monster Fish, the folks at OFR, and Joey from King if DIY…to name a few). I love all your native fish setups. You show a different side of the hobby and that’s why I watch.
I've had mine set up for awhile now, and it has been great overall. I did notice one problem which is the holes that are in each upper corner of the pond. I had a fish hit a one in a million jump and made it through that hole in the corner. I covered the gaps with some thick vinyl tape so it doesn't happen again. I don't think it very likely that it would happen often, but I just thought I would mention it so others are aware.
You do have some huge unusual tanks in the garage that are pretty dang big and hold a lot of water that you could put in the basement and that beast of a filter would push water around in it and keep it clean as well, I believe. Just my two cents as to what to do to replace that leaky pool and still have places for big fish.
Dude I just subbed! That bit about not sleeping because of thinking about making the fish room better is so spot on! I ordered a 900gl I had a 720 pentair fiberglass on order and I canceled it 2900 for tank and delivery. I knew about the window pool but seeing you and other people have one made me buy this on your link. Thanks brother ✌🏻
Love the set up!! Unfortunately pacu love wires lol. You have to cover any wires with something like pvc Would love to see you do a video or so on the diy of the filter Definitely should do a wood/pond liner DIY. Those pools are good for emergencies but not long term use for a pond. Seen so many people have tons of issues and they keep having them because they keep buying pools lol.
Yes please. Already successfully using the garbage can filter you built on a 300 gallon stock tank pond. Going for a 8 x 4 x 3 plywood for the next tank/pond in my fishroom. Will be number 8
Thats awesome!! Glad to hear the trashcan is working out for you! I'll definitely be building another like it for whatever I decide to replace the pool pond with!
I saw this pond but there was no review on quality and durability. Thanks for being the first person I know to used this. Please keep giving feedback and update on this pond.
If you've got that much space... I would LOVE to see a tank similar to the one at OFR that is wood on the sides and back but has that huge acrylic? clear pane in front, and is about 6' tall. The one that has Betty the humungous pacu and lots of catfish and others. I think they call it the 4000 gallon, but I'm not sure. Anyhow, I know you know which one I mean, and I think something that size and that tall done up in a native habitat with bass and bluegills and channel cats would look super cool and be lots of fun. You'd get the size advantage of a pond, but the viewing of an aquarium, and some real depth to play with. If you did it native species and kept it in the basement, you wouldn't even have to heat it much if ever. It wouldn't be cheap, but if you DIY it, you could do it. Oh yeah, and we don't talk any more ... LOL Cracked up when you said that.
I was just thinking about you and your family today. I hope all is well with all that is going on. Still praying for you Love the viewing window in that pond.
We are in the Charlotte area and did the same pond with the windows to house our turtles and koi while we get a large pond installed in backyard! You totally should do a backyard pond and stock it
Probably safer to go with the bigger pool pond because like you said wood is expensive right now and you got an anchor the wood to the floor with heavy duty concrete bolts
Hey from the uk, I'm new to your channel and loving your take on fishkeeping, wooden pond all the way for me the bigger the better, would love to see a diamond sturgeon in it, unless you already have one I haven't seen all your videos yet.
Its possible ya. Flex seal is pretty pricey and only the roll on kind is fish safe. For me, I'd rather trust the seams which works.... some of the time 😂
Hey man really miss your videos. Big part of my learning when I first got into the process was watching hours of yours a few other RU-vid videos. I hope all is well, but we all wanna know... what happened? Come back Ole boy
Thanks for sharing about this clear front pool pond. I came across you because I actually ordered this pond last night & then canceled the order this morning after worrying about an unknown failure rate. I can't find much online about how well these ponds do. While searching, I found you 😀 Would you mind letting me know if this bad boy is still holding water? I hope it is and the fish are doing well. Thanks for advancing the hobby.
I recently went to the Oklahoma Aquarium and saw a catfish that I honestly never would have guessed was a catfish (by the shape of its head/mouth I would've guessed it to be a sucker) But if it were possible for you to aquire and add one to your collection of Amazonian fish would you get a Ripsaw Catfish?
You should build a 2000 gallon diy fish pond with a view panel. And move your fish from the clear vinyl pond to the new 2000g leaving the clear vinyl pond available to the desire fish you like.
Why not just build a pond out of cinder blocks? Build it right into the foundation. Seal it up watertight. Then scape it with waterfalls and whatnot. I'm sure it would be crazy expensive but it would be a RU-vid first.
Why not do a video of a big heap of different types of DIY filters. I know you have a few scattered videos. But doing One big video I feel would be nice.
"I still recommend a product that hasn't done its main job since day one" That's so dumb. You've had nothing but problems with it. It's one job is to hold water and it didn't. Take it easy on the "funny" jump cuts. It's distracting and isn't adding to the video.
I just found your channel. I want to raise catfish for food but outdoors . I actually watched Jack Spirko he has one but your filter system seems more do able..I mean I understand your filter system. So can you transfer this to an outdoor pond?
I live down the street from you so I'll come over tomorrow and help you take out that deck. I also and feed my large bluegill. You mentioned to me to feed the bluegill shrimp at Walmart it's called salad shrimp and they love it I can get ahold bag of it for $8 one more thing I had a fish that was a Red Devil the size of your fuku and he took a chunk out of the side of my tire track eel that was about 18 in Long it died I put the Red Devil in jail. Great video though I enjoy watching them I did notice something you might want to color those eyebrows it doesn't look like you have any LOL
Those shower filters you can build RU-vid diy koi shower filters have been making them for yrs just use 27 gallon heavy duty totes from Lowes stack them drill holes in bottom of one and top of lid on the second one
You should put the heater in the filter So you know the water is getting warm In staying heated And you don't have a damn Paku Biting your chords Just an idea
