Fishing Bell Do's And Dont's 

I learned this very same technique over my many years of fishing as well. I would have only added a tip that you do not want to leave the bell on the rod if you for some reason re-bait and recast with out thinking of it. Your bell will land in the middle of said lake or river you are fishing lol. Lost one or two over the years simply from not paying attention

I live bait fish with bream for catfish on the Neuse River in North Carolina and I use bells. I do it a little different because I use a 1 1/2” real brass bell. I use a paper clip that hangs the bell under the tip where the gong is hanging free and you can reel it in without losing it or getting your line in a bind as I use a Penn conventional and the line is on top. The real brass bells give you more sound and when your bream is moving a little you might hear a small jingle but you can tell when a catfish or striker gets on. I used to use those bells like you have there but I had a friend give me a real bell and I will never go back! Message me if you would like to see details. It gives you a lot more feedback as to what is going on.

I do agree with what your saying on the bell and line twist.....I mostly use a ambassadeur bait caster so I place mine on the bottom and also remove it when I hear it go off when a strike occurs Love your videos!!!

I like to used the ones that have two jingle bells on instead of the small cow bell type one because they are more sensitive and you hear the fish play with the bait before they hit it hard.

the cheater bell has caught me a lot of fish especially catfish and I always get a fish on when I'm walking away or just lookn around at the wilderness I recommend this bell to everyone nice video thanks for the tips.

I use these every time I go catfishing. I just wait for the first hit of the bell then I take it off when it's time to pull the rod.

Lmao! Being bell trained is a real thing, I would easily get tricked that way. Sometimes I hear them when I'm away from them lol, same with the clicker on the reels.

I just started using these and I really like them. However, I learned that you should take the bell off before casting. I flung one out into the lake lol.

I use the round bells that are two bells together except I take them off the holder thing and tape a bell to the tip of my rod that way they stay on and never fall off into the water. I never thought of hooking a bell on the tip before though

How about removing the clip, and using a swivel to clip to the eye,keeps from casting them in the water or falling off in the mud.

Have any videos on good long lasting low profile rod tip lights that mount simply? I have been struggling finding a way to mount a light on the tip of my rods for night fishing I can't seem to find any decent lights that mount easily and firmly that can be removed and have a long lasting battery. I made up a few bells with lights in them out of bike tire valve stem lights so the lights only light on a vibration but these walleye I fish for some times don't hit hard at all they won't even ring a jitter bell. So I need a light for my ride til so I can see it move at night

IF I use a bell, I use the type that has two bells and screws down onto the rod tip. The cow bells, I got tired of forgetting to take them off and setting the hook and never finding them again lol

thx,, you just cursed me,, I've been using bells for over 20yrs and have never had it spin over tangle my line, but i'm sure it will now. now those jingle bells on a spring,, I've had those tangle up and they only clamp on the pole. and don't rip up for a hook set too hard or you will send the bell flying off never to be found again.

I disagree with basically everything you said. The bell will ring loud and clear if you have it right side up. It will also ring at the first nibble. There is no reason to have it upside down. It will just rattle because the clapper is not free to swing. In fact, it tends to get stuck when inverted. A slow catfish might not even rattle at all. It could shake the hook and swim away without you noticing. And don't clip onto the guide because they are delicate and any scratches will wear out your line.
