you said flounder and i remembered a special fishing trip with my grandfather in miami florida in the 80's. short story- I was 10 years old and spotted a big flounder off a water way sitting below in 3 feet of water and my grandpa said that's good eating so I hit the fish with all my might with a big rock. our family had a great dinner that night and a story that last to this day.

You are amazingly consistent at turning up good fish, where ever you are. Thumbs up! I'm surprised at how small a bait you use some times. I would put on that whole blue crab for a big drum.

You kill one animal to catch another one. But after you catch a fish, you put it back into the water. What a shame dude, from my point of view you didn`t respect the nature, animals and our enviroment. I love fishing and catch some fish, but I try to catch one or two, take them home and eat them. I show them some respect and I´m thankfull, because they feed me and my family. You do this for RU-vid chanel. Fortunatly in Germany Cath&Release is not allowed. Use some artificial bait for Catch&Release.

Use a white bucktail 2oz or bigger with a strip of croaker meat or spot or bluefish keep it looking neat, strips of meat not a chunk. Jig it around the pilings on the bottom. Avoid sheep areas. Just my two cents from fishing the cbbt for flounder

Also commercial shrimp nets are allowed in the Pamlico sound, which is the largest estuary on the east coast. Those nets kill everything in their path, especially in the estuaries where the juvenille fish can't swim fast enough to avoid the net. When I was young I pulled a recreational shrimp net with my uncle and the dead and dying bycatch we pulled up was disturbing. I respect the fact that these guys have to make a living, but shrimp can be caught offshore where the bycatch is more reasonable.

It made a huge difference fast when the damned things were (almost completely) banned in Texas. People can holler “Freedom!” all they want, but certain regulations are a matter of good conservation sense.

Like have a hip hop dance party in their back yard at midnight on a work night? Or set rank upon rank of gill nets in critical fish passes? We have conservation regulations because we cannot depend on all people to be reasonable when it comes to using our natural resources. Gill betters screamed bloody murder when their destructive equipment was banned. “Freedom!” they hollered, “You’re taking our freedom!” Well, yeah. You were killing everybody’s fish, so we had to take some of your “freedom.” Whose fault was that, really?

Lots of fish regs from state to state are confusing. I’ve been a big proponent of slots for a number of species. Protects the young and breeders but still gives the anglers an opportunity for keepers.

You have to vent the air just below pectoral fin. (not in the Stomach) that's why that big Drum was floating. If they aren't vented, most times they will float and cant swim back down and will die. Please look up on how to vent these fish.

I was thinking the same thing. If the water is over 28 feet deep that fish’s swim bladder was completely inflated. Sometimes the fish still die, but it gives them a much greater chance of survival if fizzed.

Down here in SC, the regs just changed for flounder. Went from 15" min. 10 per person per day / 20 flounder boat limit to 16" min. 5 per person per day / 10 flounder boat limit. We are feeling the impact of fewer flounder here, too. They just aren't as big or as many as seasons past.

Your vid was almost my kayak experience with a 42 inch black drum. Except mine was at 00:15 in the morning. Try night fishing for an added thrill. There is nothing like being towed around in a kayak, by a big fish on a moonless night. And..., I really enjoyed your vid.

i don'[t want to be too critical because you're handling a big fish in a kayak and working with what you've got and mean no harm, but i think it's safe to say you kept the fish out of the water for too long. i know you're trying to get footage but it's a big breeding fish and you need to prioritize the release over everything but your own safety. we need to set a good example regarding the urgency of the release when dealing with a tired out, big fish. fighting a human being on relatively light tackle in a kayak is one of the most exhausting things that fish will ever do and brings it damn near death's door. you can't sit there with it in your lap and talk to the camera for long my guy. after a fight like that i'd feel like a bit of a pig if i kept that thing out of the water for a second longer than i needed to for a picture. and if it died i'd lose some sleep. tight lines and stay safe. hell of a fish and great video.

Dude not to tell you any thing but when you say gotta orient them properly and your holding the fish vertical that’s not helping the fish revive.. you hold the fish parallel in the water like they swim and slowly pull himm back and forth to get water over there gills then by hey should take off unless they need there air ballader needs to be poped and realesed wich at that point you should always have the tool . Great work keep it up

Learn to look at the color of fish. You could see when he was holding it in the boat how pale it was which tells you the fish isn’t getting enough oxygen.

SC just increased limit keeper size from 15 to 16". They're focused on flounder and I expect the limits to keep going up.

Did I heard you say u fish the Cape Fear River for Sheapsheads ? Just woundering because I've been Catfishing it for years, catching some donkeys. But I have tried to Sheapshead fish it twice and haven't had any luck. And I thought they would b there because of the structures/pileings and fact that there's Fitler Crabs everywhere, just no luck. Caught black drum around Gandy Bridge in Tampa that went better than 80 lb and 60 + was average...how old do you think they are since the one you caught wasn't much over 30. You could carry a hook sharpener with you, I do in my pocket. 24 inches is a really nice sheephead but you haven't seen the ones out of Tampa Bay. Fact is most flounder fishermen are not successful enough to even close to limit out. (They gotta find 'em first) I live in Coastal GA now. Limits are different but all those regs in any state are based solely (pun intended) on harvest records coupled with consumer/ user input.
