Fishing the BREEZY POINT JETTY in Queens, New York - NYC Fluke / SUMMER FLOUNDER on the Fly. Fluke love any structure they can slip under and through. Any fishing jetty has all the rocks you need to hold summer flounder so we fly fished the Breezy Point Jetty in Queens New York with pleasant results. Fished the Breezy Point Jetty for about 2-3 hours until dark. Landed 3 flatfish and probably missed about the same or more. The fluke were all mostly pretty close keepers in the 18"+ range. I am 100% sure a huge summer flounder was lurking in the area too so well have to go back to get him!
Any fishing jetty would yield the same approximate results I am 100% sure. I fished today with the 8 weight fly rod with a 9 weight floating weight forward line. I actually prefer a 3-4 IPS 10ft sink tip but this is the line I had set up. Important for the floating line was a long 13' leader. 10' to 15' would suffice all the same. the long tapered leader allows the weighted fly to get down and stay down yet dance naturally with the oceans currents. That's everything you want. Learn to work with you got and the fish are yours not matter what you use. I always say i can catch fish with an orange peel if thats all I had. I can recall catching sunny's on pine needles come to think about it. Any-how's have fun out there and we are always happy to share our experiences with all those around the world and hope you enjoyed the video as much as we did making it.
