In this video the Colorado Crew fished the Eagle River in Colorado and caught a ton of brown trout and rainbow trout! We had been camping for the past several days and were tired but still made it work. It was an unbelievable day of fishing even though we didn't catch any brook trout.

A beautiful landscape and the good thing of the variety of species. But most remarkable of all is the unbeatable beauty of the browns of that river: they are as gorgeous as you can get because of the big quantity of red spots in perfect balance with the black ones. Really, really gorgeous browns.

Another great one boys. With some gorgeous fish and scenery. Interesting looking rainbows with the spots on them going all the way down and on to their belly, kind of unusual. I've mentioned before, when on crystal clear water try wearing camo tops and hats, not an end all beat all but it does help cover approach movement. Man, looks like a great trip y'all had.
@hardmanfishing
@hardmanfishing 3 года назад
Yeah we realized the trout out west look slightly different than the eastern ones we are used to catching! But we try to wear darker colors when we fish clear water but we honestly had never been to the river so we had no idea what we were getting into. Thanks for watching!

Next time you come back, the best way to avoid, or at least minimize the effects of altitude sickness is to stay hydrated. Drink tons of water and avoid alcohol. Also, if time allows, spending a day or two at lower elevations before going above 10,000 feet can help a lot.
@hardmanfishing
@hardmanfishing 3 года назад
Yeah I tried to plan the trip out so that we slowly raised in elevation but I had time restraints with my job (only had so much time off work) so it was almost unavoidable. We drank a bunch of water and had some Tylenol so it never got too bad. Thanks for watching!

Great trip.....sure enjoy your videos. I fished those same streams two years ago.....when I didn’t have a headache and shortness of breath from the altitude. Those fish on the Eagle and Gore are tuff to catch. I had no doubt you fellows would figure it out. Stay safe.....

Dope trip again. Shame to miss the brookie, but made up for it with some gorgeous browns. They are definitely different out there. I feel like the gold is more noticable, but they don't typically get that magenta as much for the adipose and body. Nevertheless still gorgeous. Well done man. Loved the scenery and wish I had a house like that on the water :) Tight lines!
@hardmanfishing
@hardmanfishing 3 года назад
Yeah they're definitely a lot more yellow out west. I'm not sure if it is prettier necessarily because I love the look of the eastern browns. But they are definitely gorgeous. Thanks for watching man!!

@@hardmanfishing I don't want to come off as a jerk, but they are prettier on the east coast. I hope I don't offend the West Coast people lol. Either way, nice catching trout!

We were using 5x and 6x. We never went larger, I think the main eagle just wasn't fishing well or we were in the wrong section

Also wondering what you had most luck with; streamers, nymph or dry? I’ve caught more fish with nymph but bigger fish on an elk hair caddis or yellow sally. And did you catch any cutthroats? Landed a 20” cutt in June. Sorry for all the Qs. Thanks again for the videos.
@hardmanfishing
@hardmanfishing 3 года назад
Umm we honestly caught them on all three. I'd say we got the most reaction out of the streamer but probably caught more fish on the dry. The nymph and streamer caught about the same number of fish. And yes we did! They cutthroat videos will start coming out next week! I have 4 videos of us fishing for greenback cutthroat and Colorado river cutthroat.
