Ahoy fisho's! This week the phantom and I head out fishing with some strange bait, but the fish LOVE it! Of course I'm talking about chasing the mighty luderick using cabbage and green weed. These estuary brawlers are a seriously underrated sport fish and a great table fish as well. Hope you enjoy this fun little session, its always good to get out for a fish with the old man.

I’d say ludric are a fantastic eating fish , definitely a favourite eating fish for me , love ‘em , once I learnt how to catch these guys I look forward to catching some for the table every year. The trickiest part is finding the depth they are at and then your on the board .👍

We have tried the bread but it tends to attract a lot of bream and then they make a pest out of themselves!

Good to see you doing some "down to earth" fishing. Love the Reef trips and Charter tours but for many of us, that stuff is a once in a lifetime dream trip only. Don't get me wrong, I love those vids for the sheer variety, size and fight of the fish. But the good old bay and estuary fishing is always fun to watch and practical for those who just want learn how to catch a feed of fresh fish closer to home. Just a suggestion, I think your mech range could do with a winter hoodie. Cheers mate, keep up the good work!

They are probably my number one tasting fish. I prefer them over spangled emperor I caught up north, and they are a bloody good eating fish. I have never caught a black fish but my uncle gets them somewhere and drops a few off now and then.

Fantastic mate! I used to use water grass for tilapia and black algae imitation flies (actually it was just a piece of black plastic trash bag LOL, the fly guys were so mad at me) for milkfish. Some fish just like their salad I guess

A while back was reading about a young fisho who wanted to catch a Luderick. He heard the old blokes talking about catching on cabbage. So he grabbed some cabbage from the fridge and off he went, landed a monster! You are right about the old bloke bit, I am 47 and the local Luderick men call me the young fella.
