Reminds me of my youth, fishing the jetty's in So. Cal. We caught bonita, skipjack, bass and mackerel. You had to be agile to run those jettys at night. Must be 30 plus years ago. Thanks for the share.
Nothing like waking up drinking my coffee and watching you all slay the jacks…….and bugging my husband “TAKE ME FISHING” great video, next fish on my hit list, JACK UM UP….
We had an awesome day out there, Ray! Glad we were able to link up and catch them together. I'm gonna release my video this afternoon. Video came out badass! Jack 'em up! 💪
Have an important question gents....what's the brand of jetty boots yall using to not slip on the rocks????been out there plenty of times and need boots like those!!!!!
@@rmmrmm5758 The ones Ruben and I are using are the Korkers Terror Ridge (they have interchangeable soles so you can swap them out very easily). Ruben was using the Carbide Spikes sole which are perfect for the rocks and algae, I was using the felt sole which is great on the rocks and thin layers of algae, if you are walking on the thick green algae definitely get the Carbide Spikes. They also have an overshoe that goes over whatever shoes you are wearing that has the spikes on them. I have all that stuff listed in my video description.
I haven't gone to the tip in a long time but back in the day I would do several trips up and down because we forgot something. Didn't use a wagon or backpack back then it was pure body loading equipment! My favorite spot was on the right side at the furthest flat rock and it was usually under a little water. Love the slamming waves and weather! 🎣
Loved the video!! Just wanna say THANK YOU for sharing we’re you were fishing! I’m new to fishing seriously and don’t have anyone to show me anything so I’ve learned everything from RU-vid. Keep up the good work!
Crazy that I watch this video and the set up you are using is the same exact rod and reel I have that got stolen from me . Mind blowing…. It was a great set up for sure
Good morning and thanks for the great vid. Looks like y'all got in em good. I was down over Easter weekend and caught a pompano off jetties on a D O A. And a bunch of sheepshead off of the bulkhead on the channel . Along with seeing a monster jack cruising the breakwater bulkhead. Have a great week. Rainer
Hi, nice filming young man! I'm a retired US Air Force Combat Veteran, looking to relocate since I been back in country. I'm currently living in the state of GA, big Texas is on my list to relocate, this Jetti is smokin, I can definitely see myself fishing here occasionally from time to time! What city is this Jetti is located? I would like to visit and perhaps do a quick recon on the area.. thanks
Hard to beat fishing the jetties for Jacks/Smacks/Kings and been some real nice Jacks around lately and I had a couple of big ones. Had a 42" from City Dyke 2 weeks ago on 3oz gold spoon.
Wow ! got me urging to go back. 92 or 93 a friend moved to Oklahoma talked me into going back for few days to port Aransas. Did some jetti tour with him in October alot of big gaf top, few flounder really miss it
Hey Rey Fishin Fam , I like how ur simple & to the point ,, but some Joy for Angling Too Bro !( Kool ) ,,, Did u see Thresher using those Massive Silver Spoons at CC Jetties bustin Bulls ( spoons were big but thin ) ,,,, He had a few of da heavy smaller ones too that will work ,,,, Keep Chunkin Y’all 🐟🆙🤙🏼🇺🇸✨
Y Rey , Do u use wire leader material ( 30# test is like 12# mono thickness ) ,,, just add a barrel swivel to mainline & roll a loopy on da spoon ,,, wire only needs to be bout 6” to 10” max for toothy Predators,,,🤙🏼🐟🇺🇸✨
Most of the items I used including the spoons I used are linked in the description. You can actually order the spoons by clicking on a link in the description 🤙
I wonder do ya guys need to check out the weather, wave, wind before you go? If so, can you tell me which web or which app should i check it out before i go? Thanks
I'm living in Buford, GA. I subscribed to your Texas Fishing Fam channel. I watched some fishing videos of this place. I want to visit this place this summer. Please let me know the exact direction/address to this fishing place, please!!!
Gonna try my luck next week. 40lb braid 100lb mono leader and a few spoons to get snagged lmao. I really wanna try to land a larger jack on my fly rod but they always seem to never be ontop when I go, always deep.
Nice man! Most the time I use 50 pound Braid to 80 pound mono with my slammer 55k ..I need to get 100 mono honestly. Dang that would be epicl for a fly rod fight man🔥
Awesome video man! New to saltwater fishing, bought a 6500 slammer paired with a Penn carnage III. Love how the combo feels. Coming from a freshwater background I had some trouble with my knots due to the larger diameter leader line. Ran 65lb braid with an 80lb fluoro leader. Any favorite main to leader knots you recommend as well as 80lb leader to lure knots? Went down for sandfest a couple weekends ago and fished that jetty with no luck. Used 2oz and 3 oz spoons and 6in Tsunami swim shads. Do you recommend letting the spoons hit the bottom and bouncing it or straight retrieve? I’m sure it varies depending on conditions but honestly any help is appreciated! Live in San Antonio and will definitely be coming down more often to learn more about saltwater fishing! Thanks for any and all help bro!
Yes I use a Albright knot from my main line to leader line its fast and ez and hasn't failed me yet, il prob a how to video soon on that. I used 50 braid to 80 pound mono with Albright knot. Then at my lure I tied a uni knot with just 2 turns to lock since it was a thicker line
As far as retrieve yes it's always different. to start off I like to let sink then do a moderate to fast retrieve it dont always have to be super fast retrieve but yes conditions do very. And yes I would Switch it up try different approaches or retrieves if it's slow.also be observant of what's working for others if they are catching 🤙
For big Jacks/Big drum/Cobia etc I dont find it necessary to go over a 40lb braid and a 50lb leader using the Double Uni knot. Strong as you will ever need mate.
