yo mate, good option with the rod!!! as for the reel id go a 14000. if your purely fishing topwater. same body as the 10k but a deeper spool and higher gearing.

Rwkf ning hey man, you don't need really expensive gear to fish large fish. the cheaper rods will work they just won't be as good quality. they might be heavier and made of more inexpensive material but they will work. what you do need is a reel with good drag and gears. but you don't need a stella or a zenaq rod, they are told of the line high end. just find a rod within the weight rating you want to fish for and a second hand reel. a casting reel and rod will be cheaper than spinning setup. casting is more powerful and more compact, it's cheaper too because that is the main way to fish for large fish like this. don't be discouraged.
