Hi , I shave just found your channel. I live in the St Austell Bay Area and recently started lure fishing. I think your chennel and the held and advice you give is invaluable to us newbies. Im am struggling a bit with the chat rate but I still enjoy every session and your videos give me the inspiration to just keep plugging away, so many thanks and I look forward to your next video 👍

Thanks Larry. If you are targeting Wrasse keep the retrieve nice and slow and bump the bottom. If you are after Bass then work the conditions. Onshore wind is normally best.

Cracking video really enjoyed it watched it twice now. Just got to suggest getting yourself a long handle landing net. So easy to carry and use makes wrasse fishing so much easier and safer for both the fish and us.

Nice informative video mate , I’ve recently moved to Cornwall, just coming up to a year now , and I’ve started fishing again after not doing so for many many years, due to time and work mainly, so now I’ve got all the gear and a bit of an idea ! I have been learning and having fun all summer, had some great Mackerel days on light lure gear ( no feathers or Sabiki ) much more fun on a single lure , then I discovered the wrasse, down at my local beach, lost a lot of gear and it’s like fishing on the surface of the moon, but caught 3 lovely wrasse so far , watched hundreds of RU-vid videos and I’m getting mot and more information loaded into my head, thanks for the footage it is really good,

Thanks for comments Stephen. The rougher the ground the more the Wrasse like it. Using weedless Texas rigs helps reduce your gear losses to almost nothing.

Good video, very informative and look forward to seeing how to setup a Tokyo rig. My only question is what was the logic in rigging the soft plastic crayfish style lure seemingly the wrong way around please? The claws were facing back towards the mainline and the running weight, I would rig them with the claws hang8ng below the hook to get some movement and on some brands a degree of “pop up” mak8ng them wave around even more, just interested in the benefits of doing it your way. Many thanks.

There are a number of reasons for this that to me make perfectly good sense, but may not be correct. 1. Crayfish normally travel facing forward, unless threatened where the back away and use their claws as defence and deterrent, possibly putting an attacking fish off. 2. Fish normally attack their prey from the side or behind, Having less plastic in front of the hook point is far more likely to allow for a better hook up. 3. It is actually easier to hook the crayfish lure from behind as you suggested, however I have found that when I do it that way I get far less hook ups and a lot of ripped off claws where smaller fish have grabbed at them. As stated above these make sense to see and give me good results, but my theory may be completely flawed 😀
