Decided to take a trip to the pier on my birthday. The conditions were rough but I really wanted to catch some giants, turned out to be a great day of non stop action! I remember the days on that pier when it was elbo to elbo it was a big party in those piers we would catch a 100 Red fish in a day and a night it’s not like it used to be it was fun back in the 80 s and late 70 s you know what they say what happened to the good ole days and n April when the water hit 73 Jacks used to come through in heards it was crazy they would come from the west and hit every pier and then come back a couple hrs later back from the east there would be over a 100 caught on every pier and in June the big Black tip sharks would co

Caught my first bull red last weekend at Jamaica beach wading to the second sandbar. 36". I was using my back up (cheap) Kunnan rod which I swear was gonna break but it held up. Such a thrill!!

Im just glad y’all are having fun we would used to stay 3 to 5 days at a time we had wifes come down and grab there husbands it was crazy there would be 50 or more surf rods or more les than a inch next to each other and 29 or more would take the f at the same time

Great video keep up the good work. My only problem with this video is the fact that you're using perfectly good baby sea trout to catch a fish that you're not even going to eat. I've caught a hell of a lot of drum in my life and every one of them had been caught with spot heads. I'd much rather waste a spot than a trout.

Thank you so much! I think you are mistaking the trout with speckled sea trout! The ones we used are Sand Trout, super common not the best table fare unless ate the same day. They are used as bait by everyone here🎣

From the pier you dont need to get air out of it just release quickly head first. Thats only needed when they are caught from deep water like the jetties

@@miro5.072 for strictly bullreds and drum the SX Raptor. The MXL is a little bigger but works just as fine but can also land you smaller 4-5ft sharks.

Lol that cast bro practice the Hatteras cast and you don't need big baits for drum the biggest red I ever caught at 50 inches was caught on two 3 inch mullet the only baits we had left I put em both on cause they were so small

@@GGAnglers they will eat anything when they are hungry I'm from NC on the coast on the beach we catch a shit ton of reds during/after the Ophelia Strom we had a bite of 318 old drum I'm just saying you can get at least two baits out of that whole sand trout only reason I fish a whole bait is if there is no current and the pickers are bad they are banning us with mullet smfh come the 7th of November total bs dude from yt HOODFISHING just came to our pier and caught some reds and sharks n shit check him out
