Graeme tries to grab an afternoon in the winter to double up his tactics. First, throw some bait into the river for a return session but also have a few casts with some small deadbaits to see what else was about. Then he returns to fish into the dark over the area he had baited previously. Would it be lots of bites?..or...?..Then he visits a South Coast Marina that might be useful for anyone towing their own small boat with some great wildfowl shots at the end. Then he is asking questions about insects and might need your help with an answer. This film doesn't stop there. He tries to revive Mike's hedge trimmer and self sharpening Chainsaw as it has had so much work. Finally he takes a walk round a giant tackle shop and is dazed at some of the products on offer. There must be thousands of items for the modern fisherman to choose from. Sadly Graeme hasn't a clue what most of the items are for...ahhhh....Bless.....Will he ever get into the real World??...Probably not..he's still Old School.

I've been following your son for some time on his channel only recently I subscribed to your channel and what channel is it is it is absolutely fantastic.. it's just great to see an old style of fishing. A channel where you're not promoting somebody else's fishing equipment or at least two what I have seen thus far. Absolutely brilliant 10 out of 10.... Just old school type of fishing fishing fishing fishing.. I used to go fishing a lot in my younger days but unfortunately, I gave it up. Now I'm starting from scratch.. so you're teaching me a lot of what I have.. you sir have probably forgot more than I have learnt in my entire 48 years of life.. absolutely love watching your fish so relaxing so peaceful... I'm just not one for sponsors of fishing like most RU-vidrs are now with their high-tech equipment electrical depth finders.. that's not fishing... Fishing is sitting there as you do with a rod and reel and landing nets .. the best way to fish. Great super channel TA Fishing 🎣

Loved the old rods and reels you were using. Ancient but still work just fine. Exactly the type of gear I use. My favourite rod is an old 12ft Diawa match with bright orange whipping about 50 years old. Caught hundreds of fish on it over a lifetime.

And obviously still doing its job. I did get to use an Orvis flyrod and reel outfit on the River Test once and have to say it was really a pleasure...but did it catch me more trout ?..Answer is no,I caught them all on my old rod blanks,but can see it was comfortable to use. Obviously I won't be buying one but great to try out.

Hi Graeme, the larger winged ants are the queens, and the smaller ones are the males. They hatch from their nests with the wings and go out into nearby meadows, woodlands, etc to mate with ants from other colonies. Once mated, the males die and the queens wings fall off and they make their way back to the nest to lays eggs.
@vinnyhowells8132
@vinnyhowells8132 11 месяцев назад
The flying ants you see once a year are males and young queens. Each year, normally in July or August, huge numbers of flying ants suddenly appear. Queens can live for over 10 years and spend most of their lives in their nest. New queens, however, will leave to mate and found a colony of their own.
@jamescoupe5186

What do i do wrong with my quiver tip rods? I normally use running ledger/clip bead on main line attached to lead, float stop then maybe a size 8 hook with two bits of sweetcorn with hook point showing but i just dont hook the fish rod bends right round then before i can pick it up its pinged back again. Tried using hair rigs but find it puts me in a bad mood faster pissing around with them and hate the idea of missing a nice roach because its eaten bait without hook.
@TAFishing
@TAFishing 11 месяцев назад
I agree with your on the hair rig its a lot of fannying about. I think try altering the length between hook and stop. As an average I use mine about 12 inches long to start. Then lengthen or shorten if I am missing bites. The quivertip springing back smacks of overcasting your baited area and you are getting "line bites" where fish bump into the line ? Also maybe you have the tip sprung round to the weight too tight ? Try barely taking up the slack on the tip to your bait. Good luck with it.And of course if its Roach you are after don't be afraid to drop the hook and bait size. Say a size 14 hook.
@ollyjackson8733
@ollyjackson8733 11 месяцев назад
@@TAFishing thanks Graham straight away you've got it, I had quite a wide scatter of corn and hot dogs (wind) and I was casting over it hoping that the bigger fish might be circling the outside so probably loads of line bites. Ive also been using a way shorter hook length I've been having it about 4 inches. Thanks again for tips will try all that out next time.

The tool you are looking for will be on your phone, you take a photo with your phone and then just put it into google and it will identify the item, these phones are so clever nowadays they can do almost anything except tell you where to fish.
