There needs to be more bodies of water like this. The boundary waters in Minnesota is sort of like this but they allow canoes. I've been on trips there you can drink the water.
Securing continued access to clean, unpolluted drinking water for the population everywhere in the US is an extremely vital national security and environmental security objective. Without this there can be nothing else
@@Mobileithelp-xz1gcit makes it so you can get into much better spots in my experience. Shore fishing is definitely great but fishing from any sort of vessel cannot be beat
Lol good luck going to Wachusett. It's full of tourists and tons of Chinese immigrants moving in herds like cattle with their cameras and protective masks
It's illegal to fish because that's the trout spawning season. All our cold water fisheries in the adirondacks prohibit ice fishing and those lakes are close for that same time period for the spawn.
Not every where and also depends on what you're fishing for. Where I live you can fish any species regardless of spawn or species as far as I know. They encourage you to catch and release on spawn and you definitely should but no regulation in my state and many other midwest states
@@dr.max9yt459 so the fish bite? guess you love destroying the enviroment with the fish you eat being caught by nets dragging across the seafloor scooping everything up
@@damacaroniboy9720 i’m aware of how unsustainable commercial harvesting are, but I was asking why they fill the night crawlers with air. So instead of being a sad soy boy, maybe just not answer if you don’t have an answer
@@dr.max9yt459 i answered your question. so the fish bite. your comment appeared to me like some idiot crying about hunting and fishing while eating his grocery store meat, thats why i was so rude. but to get more in depth why they inject air into them, it makes them float on the top of the water instead of dragging across the bottom which i guess keeps catfish and bottomfeeders away from the hook because they are considered trashfish. a positive side effect is that it also makes them look fatter and tastier to fish so theyll be more likely to bite. have a great day man
@@damacaroniboy9720 thanks for answering my question in detail and retracting your assumptions. I am a fisherman myself and was genuinely curious why people do that because i’ve never heard about it before.
My friends uncle got the biggest largemouth bass in there. It was 9 lbs 9oz in 99. He had a giant bass eat his trout he was reeling in and he went back to the same spot with pike shiners. He was a school teacher and after school he would go there everyday. Also the state record smallmouth and laker came out of there.
I live near here but I haven't fished in several years. Maybe I should pick up my license and give it another go. It is my 2nd fave lake in MA because it has loons on it. The environmental officers are very serious about parking, licenses, everything - but that's what keeps it beautiful.
Lake Ontario has plenty of big fish. And plenty of boats. Boats don't have anything to do with it. It's the size of the body of water and how many fish are kept. Ontario is also polluted, turns out trout and salmon don't mind pollution. But I wouldn't eat them. Lol
@@robertfletcher3756 it definitely helps with no boats we got special permission to fish a no boat reservoir and caught them every cast for hours all 3 plus pound smallmouth
That’s wild! I have a buddy of mine, who, funny enough is an old timer and has fished the Chu for awhile now and has shared the way of the blown dead shiner with me. He was there Opening Weekend and landed a 20” 3.35 lb rainbow on that rig.
I'm from eastern MA and went fishing at the Chu once (in the summer of '22 if memory serves) and I only caught one fish.. but it was my first and only yellow bullhead! A very rare catch around these parts. Can't wait to get back there soon and hopefully hook into another new species. That's the magic of places like this.. when you get a fish on you just never know what you might pull in. That's a very thrilling feeling!
So that's why my dad kept all those needles in his tackle box! I thought it was weird, but I already trusted his process. I remember we used to stop in the ghetto for our bait. It was out of the way, but dad always insisted they had the best bait in town. He was adamant that we got enough for the whole fishing trip too. He would fish so hard he would have to sleep for days after a trip. Ahhh, good times, good times
Most of the UK drinking water is fishing water and closed at the same time due to spawning season. My local one has a Pike syndicate who pay big money to fish during the closed season on a catch and release only and Pike only.
May want to check the regs on that reservoir. Usually it is illegal to use to any kind of bait fake or real because it is a drinking water reservoir. Also just a good rule of thumb to keep as an angler even if it is allowed... I made this mistake once on a reservoir near a military base and was approached by a warden accompanied by an mp. Somehow talked myself out of being arrested, they were not happy.
There's really only a handful of spots in MA with any regulations other than limits. You can use bait everywhere except like one section of a specific river that's a fly fish only I believe.
It Is illegal maybe because The whole water body is dependent for some state for usage . If someone dies in that lake , The whole water body can’t be used for some days until it gets pure . This may result in water scarcity .
I love hiking! The longer the hike, the better. The drinking water supply, where I live, is Lake Athabasca. One can see 30 metres through the crystal clear water, to the bottom. It is often said the planet is in dire condition compared to 30 years ago. I beg to differ. This lake was disgusting 30 years ago. From British Columbus to Nova Scotia, things are amazingly better environmentally. Things are so good, we gave our American brothers and sisters populations of bald eagles to show our love and respect to the United States of America. Things are, indeed, improving environmentally.
Been a fly angler here in Michigan for over 20 years. Just came across your channel yesterday. Just wanted I love what you're doing and respect it. All the best to you and yours. By the almighty and with honor, Smoky sends.
City of Akron has quite a few of them. Even if you live around the lakes you cannot go onto them or fish them. People do sneak in and tell tales of some record sized fish. But the fines are steep and who wants to go to court. Lake Rockwell
Never heard the trick of blowing air up the bait. It makes sense, have a few weights inches away from the bait bringing it to the bottom, air in the bait makes it float just inches from the bottom where the weights are holding it down. Nice trick
Till now i had no clue about that lake, and I'd never really considered those issues before. But it makes sense and is also becoming more of A Safety concern everyday.
I would take a kayak in there and try trolling deeper waters. I understand why they wouldnt want any motorized vehicles on the water, but a kayak or rubber dinghy shouldnt be an issue.
Been enjoying your channel lately, great vids / shorts! I just moved to Mass from Canada last year - and have landed in Marlborough. I have mostly used top water / spinners to catch smallmouth and pike over the years. Keen to get my kids into down here in Mass. Do you have recommendations on some spots local to me to take the kids? We don't mind a little hike. Thanks in advance, I know some people are sensitive giving away their spots.
Lol hike in the woods. Hike in the woods with fishing gear in the PNW full of blackberries. Playing aside I'm happy you've got a great spot. We're known for fish here, but it's he'll getting them anymore.
As someone who lives in Massachusetts and drives by this all the time I see people in boats all the time and it’s just sad and then I see them on December and they just throw fish on the shore And leave them there truly heartbreaking
Considering the amazing things stocked , once upon a time sturgeons cat fish varieties Fish so large Scuba Divers refuse to go in with ( Those were salmonids ). And the fact it the end of the Quabin subterranean aqueduct ( Steady in flow of Quabin's fish ) ( Steady stocking ❗❗❗❗‼️‼️
There's 2 reservoirs like that here in North Carolina. Now if you go on the Cape fear River or the Neuse River can go overnight you can catch some monster cats.
When I first moved to MA over a decade ago from the finger lakes of NY, I thought hey this looks like a good place to swim. Let the dog oot the truck and dove in. DEC guys thought about shooting me for sure.
