You crack me up Graham. I was just thinking 'that fella knows how to cast' with the one just tucked under the tree and not easy with a tiny rod! And then the old snap off! Very entertaining ...
Only the tackle companies will tell you otherwise On the flipside if you do intend on doing a lot of angling (once a week +) then spending a bit more on the workhorse items such as the rod and reel will be better in the long run, still no need to break the bank, just spend your money wisely
TjDolHaus86 I've had the same Shakespeare 3m rod an reel since I was 13 lol 24 now still catching on them,£25 for a rod an reel 11 years ago...not bad at all
Love the channel guys! I am in Illinois in the US. I have been having some medical issues and can’t fish. So I love watching you guys fish it brings me joy!
Thanks Graeme. This has persuaded me ( along with your fishing tips) to spend my Christmas card money on a pen rod and give fishing a try, on my local canal 👍
Those are interesting little rod/reel combinations. I fished for a number of years on a slightly larger telescoping rod/reel set on Northern California feeder lakes and streams. It was about 5 foot all together. I caught a lot of trout on it. I basically wore it out. It was an inexpensive rig, maybe $20 or so. Very easy to pack around. Up here in Alaska though .. you need a slightly bigger rig. 😎
Hi mate really enjoy your videos are used to be a keen angler used much fish all the time which I would like to know where to get a Penrod to put in my bush craft stuff if you could all the best my friend Darren from Basingstoke
Hi Graeme. Between yourself and Mike you have inspired me to buy a pen rod and some silicon worms. I really want to try fishing but not found the confidence to novice fish in front of fisherman. Could you recommend a good place for a novice, Fisher woman to start?
Try your local tackle shop. There might be some free to fish placers you could start ,or even day ticket waters. I would fish with bait over lures though, far more chance of success.
Hi! I'm going on holiday to majorca in September and I was thinking of taking a pen rod with me to have a few throws out from some rocks. What rigs would you recommend?
I know it sounds crazy but what I do is buy some 4g and if I don’t have the weight all do is put a full worm on the jig then just let it go with the flow doesn’t matter if it’s on a lake or river
Just bought the Pen rod from Amazon myself. Could you please recommend braid line with a link you've used in this video and various over parts to make up that complete rig please? I'm new to this fishing sport. Thanks.
I would use mono on a pen rod rather than braid.A bit more stretch for safety.I feel non-stretch braid might stress the rod. I was just using a bb shot a foot or so from the hook. Depends on how wide the river is.
I just heard you mentioning that about your polarised glasses I spent £30 on some polarised glasses from Amazon and all they do is turn everything yellow.. seriously I was gutted Graeme. I know your prescription polarised glasses which will have be expensive to say the least.. listen why don't you take off the glasses and put them in front of the video camera and we will probably be able to see through the polarised glasses giving everyone an kind of experience as I presume this should work... I used to do this when I used to with different types of filters.. so I presume you're lens off your glasses in front of your cumberlands will give everyone a look through polarised.. for who don't know what polarised glasses do . But yeah I'm waiting for a refund on mine.. I thought I would buy the yellow ones because it would help me on a night to drive also cutting out the glare of car headlights but they were also for fishing. So yeah be careful when you buy something just because it says it's polarised doesn't necessarily be that they are polarised. Always shop about and research
