Dense fog waited right at the coastline, but visibility was just enough to let me get out to try some of my favorite spots. I started off fishing a shipwreck in 70' of water, and the calico and sand bass were on the chew! There was almost no current, so I dropped down to a 1/2oz leadhead and #20 florocarbon leader.
After a fast-paced hour of bass fishing, I headed off to the Horseshoe Kelp, where the barracuda had been for the past few weeks. Visibility dropped to about 100 yards, and I decided to troll to locate some fish. I inadvertently stumbled on three boats that were anchored in a U shape (with me in the middle), so I decided to shut down and drift.

Thanks Stephen. It was surreal fishing in fog that dense. I could hear people all around me, but not see them.

It is called a Jam (or sometimes a Wham-O). About 15 years ago I found out the company that made them was going out of business, and I bought 1,000 of them. The plastic is really durable, and they last for a lot of fish.

Also, what phenix rod were you using?

It’s a PSW 866L. I’ve had it for maybe 15 years, and love it. Pretty good casting range with the 8 1/2’ length, and it also makes it easy to maneuver over people on a crowded boat.
