Nice tips, I have been put off of dropshotting as there is a large chance of hooking into one, is there any pointers for avoiding them and focusing on the perch?
Will's Fishing World Hi Will I do occasionally drop shot for Perch and you do get the odd Jack turn up, there are a few things I do to help avoid being broken off and leaving shrapnel in a Pikes mouth. Firstly I never target those small Perch with tiny lures as I don’t see the point in fishing for wasps as there is no sport for me there. I’m using 6 to 8lb fluorocarbon leader for my drop-shot with 5 to 7cm lures, Perch will take bigger they are greedy but the larger lures deter the tiny wasps and hooking a rouge Pike I do have a fair chance to land them. Tiny Perch gorge down lures and usually end up dead later so using bigger lures negates their interest and I’m after larger Perch anyways. As for shads, Neds etc I use 6lb single thread titanium wire trace made with size 12 swivels and matching micro quick change ends and I’ve landed double figure Pike when needed and it hasn’t impaired my Perch fishing so far. Remember you can tie 6lb titanium wire very easily no needs for anything fancy.
