I also am a reel mechanic and also collect Penn reels. My collection is not even close to yours but what a coincidence that I just put my beloved Surfmaster 100 on the boat here in San Carlos, Sonora to fish with it for the next 4 weeks till I leave for the season. The other five sticks on board all have modern Penn reels. Great vid!

Big Cat Fever almost exclusively these days. Been using them for several years now and absolutely love them. The one I had that old Penn Surfmaster on is a cheap little boat rod I picked up at a local bait shop some years ago. I don't remember the brand but it was only around $20. LOL I don't know if it would stand up to a real big fish, but it is sure fun to fight them on that little thing.
Is the Penn Peer 109 a catfishing reel? Having a heck of a time casting this thing. This thing bird nests horribly. Thinking of leaving it at home and pull out the Jig Master or Squidder.
