I designed a back swimming tail action crawdad lure when I was a kid(about 10 yr old). I used palm fronds to make the segmented part of the body, and some tiny hoop hooks, so when you pulled on it, it pulled the tail along with some duck feathers cut to shape and food dyed red/orange. It pulled against your reel, which made it a pain to use. I lost it and never made another, but I've been thinking about trying it again, should work in the hands of a better angler. I think I could make one that pulled with the reel, instead of against it, with line thru body instead of hoop hooks. Anyway, I love weird, and fun top water action, they never fail to make good memories.

Superglue fixes those up really easy when they get enough teeth in them to start rips, or holding water. You can count on losing legs, etc, just a drop of glue, barely enough to see is plenty. I don't think bass smell it, and never had an issue. EDIT - and now I see you know this! haha, that's what I get for commenting before the end.
