This song was inspired by a fan that sent in their story to the band. It wasn’t necessarily abuse, but the concept works for anything that people do that tears apart families.
I was abused as a baby by my Mom, and was living with my grandparents by the age of 2. I still have some very vivid memories of being a child and being hurt or just being terrified. There was a court case and it was messy and my Dad got custody. Over the years my Mom has reached out to me to make some kind of connection, and I just don't know her. She acts like she did nothing wrong, yet there are court files of testimony of things people saw and heard. My grandmother encouraged me to go look at the files before contacting her. I really don't know what to do to be honest. I do know that I went to a grief therapist after my grandmother passed and discovered in the sessions that I was suffering from trauma. I think it's the reason why I never really dated or thought about marriage...fear
I am so glad you guys did this song!! Fantastic insight and sharing of personal experiences! This is why we love you both!! You know a song is good on many levels when it can touch you while you're head-banging! Now Sori can say she's heard one Christian band that is pretty badass, and is on par with many secular bands. I know this was a heavy subject, but ultimately the song is about redemption, asking for forgiveness from people you wronged, from God, from yourself. I saw this band in concert a couple of weeks ago and they are freaking awesome live! everybody in the crowd was singing along with some of these songs especially the song Pissed Off! The next Christian band I will request sometime in the future is deathcore band Impending Doom. God bless you and the family😊
Oh my god you finally did Fit For a King!!! 😭😭 please do Forever Unbroken or Tower of Pain!! And you never done Christian Deathcore!! I’d recommend Impending Doom - Murderer!!
Just saw them LIVE Sunday 8-18-2019 in there hometown of Tyler,Texas and they were AWESOME!!! Yes, FFAK was original formed out of Whitehouse and Tyler,Texas years ago, I remember the original members back in 2009 when they had there very first ep sample out. This band has changed a whole bunch since the earlier days. Still today FFAK ROCKS and ALWAYS WILL!!!
For Christian metal i love classic Living Sacrifice and some of their later stuff and classic Mortification. Also Immortal Souls, Extol, Soul Embraced, Metanoia.
i have delt with this kind of stuff through out my life....so i can really relate to what this is about....keep up the work vin and sori bneen a big fan for 2 years now !!!
Very few songs manage to make me this emotional, and this song is one of them. Really hits me close to home, but it’s songs like these that really resonate with my life events, and it’s why I love this genre of music, because it displays such power of emotion that in my opinion, very few manage to achieve. Also, it helps me grow stronger emotionally and physically. Top 5 for me
You´re selection of music is just awesome!!! It´s seems like crazy but your music selection is just about right and freaking awesome! Pls keep this sh*t up!!! *thumbs up*
35:48 A ton of their songs are from fans. Cold Room for example, deals with the death of a child. From the lead, Ryan, "Taken from the experience of a fan who wished to remain anonymous, the track examines a mother’s experience with abortion. After becoming pregnant again later on in life, her struggle to feel worthy as a parent was crippling."
They do a concert around where I live called iMatter which is an all day metal festival to combat suicide and self harm by pointing out the intrinsic worth of each human being that while it's not exclusively a christian event it does have a LOT of christian bands that participate. My wife and I go whenever we can (we did one of our anniversaries there). One year I got to meet and hang out with the guys from Fit For a King such cool down to earth dudes, Also got to have a short conversation with Matty Montgomery another year. Saw so many good bands there over the years Fit for A King is back this year. One christian band I Heard the very first year that I still listen to their album is MyChildren MyBride. "God of Nothing" is such a good song but If you want one of their best songs that will punch you in the feels listen to "The Endless" the lyrics are painful but hopeful.
Im no christian but some good bands in that genre for you to react would be Living Sacrifice The Empire Shall Fall Times of Grace Soul Embraced Demon Hunter War of Ages. Hope that helps a bit
Music is music... Don't need to get to deep into comparing secular music to what Christian music is, I'm glad it was there for me in the 80's cheesy or not... Today a Christian Metal, Core Metal is Amazing, but it all started back in the day which I'll always be grateful for. Listen to... Living Sacrifice. Inhale Exhale. Maylene and the Sons of Disaster. Impending Doom Circle of Dust
Hell yes!!! You guys, ty so much for doing this band. They've been in the car for the last six months. This band is completely amazing. So versatile and heavy. I understand why this was chosen as it was a guarantee emotion reaction. However they have so much better songs. Check out ffak Shattered Glass or Youth Division. Bangers 100%
I think Sori you will especially love this: It’s time you reviewed a second QUEENSRYCHE (another Seattle band) song. Vin loved ‘Eyes Of A Stranger’ last year. I recommend ‘Silent Lucidity’ their biggest hit. It went Top 10 in 91 and was nominated for Grammys and AMAs and nominated for 5 MTV Video awards, winning one, beating R.E.M.s Losing My Religion in the Viewers Choice category. It is a beautifully lush ballad with strings by Michael Kamen of Metallica fame as well as many film scores. The album Empire went triple platinum and is their biggest seller, even though ‘94’s Promised Land debuted at number 3 on Billboard. Queensryche is a band that deserves your attention. You will love it so much I think. Video is great too. Please use the studio version or official video version. No good quality live clips. Trust me. Sooo good.
Decent song, thank you guys. I think you should consider songs like "More Than A Man" by Stryper (80's Hard Rock) or "From The Valley Of The Shadows" by Mortification (Death Metal), so this week is not only Metalcore // Deathcore (it seems to me that many bands of the Christian Metal go for that type of sound).
My first time requesting. Id love to see you're reaction to "Myrath-Believer". They are a lesser known band but the music is some of the best Ive heard. Its kinda like Prince Of Persia meets rock. I know Sori will love it.
Myrath...!!! One of my favorite bands from Africa. I think their third album is still my best. They released a album last weekend. You should check it out. :)
@@sopwithsnoopy8779 I actually like starting with "Merciless Times" when recommending myrath to people. That's the first song I heard and I've been a fan since then. The other bands from Tunisia I like are Persona , I the Intruder, nawather.
They will think the lyrics are cheesy. I really think they should do more Theocracy, even though Sori didn't like them. They have some pretty deep things to say like the lyrics for As The World Bleeds. Or Lay the Demon to Rest
Mewithoutyou - Messes of men...Mewithoutyou is the only christian band that is so good that most of their fans are atheists ...they have a dostoievskian christian view...earned trough suffering and despair....and they write shakespeare level lyrics.
You should react some Being as an ocean! "Deaths great black wing scrapes the air is" amazing song! And "Beartooth - Sick and disgusting" is amazingly raw song. Love you guys and God bless!
