My distance seems to be showing up in feet, rather than yards? 1252 ? for a 450 yard hole? How can i correct this? I am using a new Versa 2 fitbit. Thanks
Found this app and I really like it. Works like a golf buddy. I downloaded it to my Versa and paid for it. I have high expectations and am looking forward to the bugs being worked out. So far, I've had it freeze up on me and quite a few other times it just won't get the GPS connection. Just the other day I was on the the fifth hole and it was still looking for the GPS data. Finally just quit looking at my watch for info.
I used the app with my fitbit Versa 3 for the fist time yesterday. It worked great for the first three holes. After that all the distances were off by sometimes 1000 yards or more. The course I played was Houndslake Country Club - "Dogwood" (aka front nine) in Aiken, SC, USA.
James, I've looked up your course in the database and it is all correct. I even tested it on my simulator watch. SInce the versa 3 has a built in GPS, the only thing left is that the versa itself had a wrong GPS connection. Do you experiences other issues with the GPS? Does it happened with other courses?
@@PieterOskam I haven't used the GPS for anything else. I did play a different course today (Cedar Creek in Aiken, SC) and it worked fine for all 9 holes that I played. I'll try it again at Houndslake some time soon and let you know how it does. Thanks.
Pieter, i've been using this app for several months on my Ionic. Love it. All I really care about is distance to the green and not about drive distance or club selection. Live in The Villages, FL, with over 50-golf courses. Have not found a course yet not listed even when i am out of town. Only real complaint is sometimes the phone connection seems to require resetting the watch and battery consumption on the Ionic but I charge the watch every night. Watch charge is nearly dead after 27-holes in a day. Uncertain about how updates are made. Currently running 0.81.
Bill, Thanks for the feedback. I Bought a House and became father so not many development the last 10 months. The battery consumption on my watch is roughly 40% over 18 holes. I cannot do much about it. The app indeed resets once in a while. Still need to figure out what this iss. The Ionic should be able to function without a phone connection
Bill - I see you use Golf GPS with the Ionic? How do you get the Ionic to stay always on? i.e. Stop it switching off and having to restart the app all the time?
Hi Peter, I was using the app on trial and loved it, thankyou! However after paying for the full version, when I press 'Find New Course' I just get a white spinning wheel and no courses appear. I'm using a versa 2, hope you can help!
Hello Pieter. I had been using your app for about a month and a half and loved it. Yesterday it kept searching for courses, but never found any - just kept showing the "loading" symbol. I looked at the app on my phone and it said it was a paid app and I hadn't paid for it. So, I went on-line and paid $4.99 for the app, thinking that was the problem. (The app itself said it was $2.99, but I was charged $4.99.) That did nothing. What can I do? I had just purchased a Fitbit Versa 2 in November, but that didn't have GPS, so I gave that one to my husband and bought an Ionic. I'll be VERY disappointed if I can't use your GolfGPS, since that is the reason I spent the money for a new Fitbit! Thank you.
I'm back with another issue. I love that the app can keep score now, but I'm having major problems with it. It keep crashing and re-starting. Sometimes the score is there, but most of the time the score starts over. Is there anything I can do about that? Thanks in advance.
I have been using the Beta version and I have not had any trouble with it going back to hole number 1. The only problem I have noted, which is minor, is that, after I cycled to another hole and back with the arrows, the time wouldn't show display. It says "0[object". Could be coincidental but it showed properly when I first started. Also, I am able to exit the program better with the beta version.
Hi James, Glad to hear that. I figured out why it is happening. It had to do with the 12h time format and adding a leading 0 to hours. So, me as 24H user i didn't see it. That is why i need beta testers to test all scenario's.

I loved this app last year, and I still like it this year, but ... The scoring feature is great, but mine keeps resetting. After nearly every hole, the app closes. Sometimes the scores are still there, but mostly they are gone. Is there something that I can do to improve that?
I have the same issue. Is there a setting on my Versa 3 that I can change to yardage? Or do I need to wait for the app to recognize that I’m playing the course before the specific yardage for the first hole appears?
So this will work with a Versa 2 using phone's GPS? Also noticed that my home course has inconsistent set of tee boxes selected. On 10 holes it uses the forward or "ladies" tees, and the other 8 is a variety of other tee boxes. Is this something I should correct?
Yes, it will work on your versa. Fitbit automatically uses your phone gps if the watch iself has none. As a developer I don't need to do anything special. Regarding your course. No need to correct the tees. I only use the tee position to calculate if the app needs to move to the next hole. Add bunkers and water hazards as you wish.
Peter, is there a way to delete Stored Courses? I don't want to delete them all, just a couple of them? Also in Setting on my Versa 2 there is Automatic Swing Detection. It has 4 choices- sensitive, medium, hard and disabled. Can you give a brief description for when to use each one.
David, Deleting courses cannot be done manual. it only stores the last 5 courses, number 6 is deleted. Swing detection is used to restart the club distance tracking. Setting the sensility it to sensitive allows for the detection of soft swings (less strong people) but sometimes it will detect something else as a swing (false positive) If you hit your iron 7 less than 90 yards you probably go for sensitive. and 150 yards for hard. Just try it out for yourself. It measures the G force in the X direction. sensitive is 3G medium is 3.5G and hard is 4G
Hi Peter! I have a Versa 2 and installed this app today. When I click on "Find new course" I am able to get "GPS FIX acquired" to turn green, but I still have "No phone connection" in red. Do you know what I need to do to get a phone connection? Maybe other important information: -I have an android -I have not had any other issues with fitbit so far.
I have the Fitbit versa 2. I was finally able to try out the app as our golf courses reopened. The golf app was the only reason I went with the larger versa2 since it is so huge. Now I have found that the distances are all wrong according to the course markers and as well according to other golfers garmin watch. And it keeps asking me whether I want to track. Pretty annoying. Can this be helped?
Cheryl, You can turn the shot tracking off in the settings menu. The versa 2 has no GPS but uses the phone GPS instead. The distance on the versa 2 is shown from your phone, not your watch. So leave your phone in your pocket to get the correct distances. Th
I can't get the distances to change from metres to yards. I went into settings and changed it to yards but it won't change on the watch. Any help would be appreciated
When i play 18 holes the battery drain is approximately 40% with my Ionic.. Please note that the GPS of the ionic consumes quite a bit of battery. Since the versa would use the phones GPS, the battery drain can be lower. The versa however requires a constant bluetooth connection with your phone. Bluetooth doesn't consume as much compared to GPS.

I play at a course that has a main course (full 18) and a smaller course which is a Par 3 course. I was wondering if it worked with those courses by chance. The course is called The 500 Club (main course) & The Future's Course (par 3) in Glendale, AZ. I just found your app after I went out today so I was wondering if it would work for that course before I pay? Any insight on this would be fantastic!
On the Ionic does the device have to be "always On" or will Golf GPS continue to run in the background? I tried it out but I had to continually restart the app.
Aidan, this is a bug but can't figure out what it exactly is. I think it has to do with a dropping phone connection. Only a few androids are officialy supported by fitbit. When the phone connection re-establish, then the app restarts. New OS releases from Fitbit will solve this issue, but have to incorportate this in the app
I have downloaded a 27 hole course, Dun Laoghaire Golf Club, and it doesn't seem to be able to start the round. It works for other 18 hole courses I have downloaded. Any idea how I can fix?

@@PieterOskam Hi Peter, I have tried a number of time at Dun Laoghaire golf club now with no success unfortunately. I attempt to launch the app but it seems to lag and doesn't open for Dun Laoghaire. I have had success with other courses - would you mind looking into this please? When I hit "Start Round", it fails to launch the course and times out
This app was great when it worked, but I the GPS will not connect anymore. I'm not sure if the issue is related to fitbit or the app. This worked last year, but not this year. Let me know if the GPS is still an issue.
Make sure your fitbit app is allowed to use the gps. Just open the fitbit app on your phone and it will connect. Or else give the app permission to always use the gps. That worked for me. Hope it helps.
Pieter - I used this on one course in Dublin, Ireland, it worked fine. Then I used for another course - it finds the course but saying only "Na" where 3 yardage readings should be, this never changes...what can make it work??

its all connects at first i have bluetooth and gps on, but once i walk to next hole it seems to disconnect only works when i have the app open on my phone? surely you should beheld to leave phone in bag? gave up with it after 6 holes.
Dalton, On the versa you need a connection with the phone since it uses the Phone GPS. I have more users which are reporting that de app crashes on the watch. I cannot figure out what it is since I cannot reproduce the same error.
I had an iPhone 6s and it worked perfectly since I got my Fitbit for the last 6 months. I could put the phone in my bag (Fitbit app closed out, etc) and the watch app would still work with no problem. I just got the new iPhone SE 2020 and now the watch app will not work without the Fitbit app open on my phone. It will no longer work in real time as I walk the golf course as it had done previously. Appreciate any insight and/or suggestions.
Peter, I love the app. How do I get it to stop asking if I want to track my shot? It comes up every time I look to see the distance of the next shot. To say yes or no means I have to press the watch but I nearly always have something in my hand ( a club or my golf trolly) so it really interrupts things. can I turn the question off? @@lauraschumacher533 . Yes it will work. Though I would recommend buying a Versa 3 since it has a built in GPS. The the vera 2, you need your phone close to you to get a good Distance measurement

The past few times I have played, after each hole, the app goes back to hole #1 instead of the next hole. Also, on my Versa 3, I sometimes have to press the side "button" on the left a number of times before I have to option to exit the program. Any suggestions? Thanks.
James, I also noticed last week when playing a round that the app resets to hole 1. I cannot reale pinpoint the problem 100% certain but included some fail saves in my latest beta release. I also removed the issue with navigation (pressing back buttons and exit the app). I want to do too much at onces. I already start a new feature before thoroughly testing the previous one. The app is terrible, never connects and cant download courses. Tried over 15 times out on the golf course and worked once. Spent hours at home trying to work it but with not joy
Terrible to hear. Is the phone or GPS not connecting?. The GPS takes a long time. The phone connection isn't that reliable, but that is a fitbit issue. Make sure that you have checked "continuous synchronization"

Yes, if the Versa 2 support doesnt require a lot of development. Versa Lite was supported out of the box. I cannot yet develop for versa 2. Keep me updated when the versa 2 is launched.
Vincent, I just read the versa 2 specs. They are awesome and are very good for the golf app. built in GPS means you get the distance from your wrist instead of your phone. And OLED display means that black pixels dont consume battery. Because 70% is black, the app consumes 70% less power when the screen is on. This makes it possible to leave the display always on during your round. I'm considering buying this version, though I'm very happy with my Ionic.
@@PieterOskam thanks for the update. Be aware that the Versa 2 does NOT have built in GPS, only connected GPS through your phone, much like the other Versa models. The OLED display is very nice however and an always-on yardage display would be fantastic. I do like mine, it was released in USA last week
