I laughed when I realised he put both Kanji and Yusuke in S tier-who both happen to be voiced by Matthew Mercer. I swear he always plays his roles perfectly.
@@richardthepastamancer6619 Also Shido kinda saw it coming so his plan would never succed to begin with. Problem was that he was moredependent on Shido than Shido was on Akechi.
I think the appeal of older men SL/C is that, in these games you're a second year student, or a junior in high school. You're just barely reaching the cusp of adulthood and you have to deal with all these things, both small and large scale. Meeting these regular-ass guys, who've been through things you as the protag haven't, but still willing to give their time to talk to you and forge a bond I think acts as a breath of fresh air
If Strikers’ Zenkichi had a SL/C, he’d be among one of the best ones in my eyes because he’s lived through the real rough aspects of adult life and the protagonist could have gained real valuable life experiences from him. The counterpart to Sojiro’s story where his storyline plays out in bit of a reverse order.
I'm really glad Minato was that high up he's my favorite but people overlook him cuz they usually play P4/P5 before P3/don't understand the ending/or haven't played it. it really hurts for me so I'm glad you enjoyed his 2009 edginess
Honestly instead of Haru's father they should've made Haru's fiance the target. We see that Haru's dad isnt evil per se, just ignorant of what his employees and especially his daughter go through while he tries to make the most out of life. Haru's fiance tries to rape her in an alleyway. The easy arguement is that it would feel like too much of a retread of Kamoshida's palace, but just age up the fiance a couple years (about age 25-27), have him beg for sympathy by saying his dad died leaving him in charge of the company 2-3 years ago, and just have his employees get treated like shit by him. And then just have the issue of Haru's confidant be her taking over the company soon after her father chooses to retire or go into hiding due to the shit that's been going down recently, going as far as the fiance of his daughter dying. He'd come off as an asshole, sure, but Haru ends up needing to run a company before graduating high school either way.
Plus the Thieves actually met the prick unlike Haru’s father whom they never actually meet and I hate his stupid face so much that taking out his cognition just ain’t doing it for me. As for Haru’s father, it could have done something interesting where the Palace Ruler in question isn’t really too much in the wrong other than his neglect and the change of heart could have been where the Thieves realised that they actually got the wrong guy. Would have at least justified the stupid Morgana and Ryuji conflict’s existence in the arc where it happened because of Morgana’s actions in the arc.
@@minatoyuki4800 He was only likeable as the asshole of the party. He still killed countless people and hates the phantom thieves and tried to kill them. He bounces between motivations and calls people his own age "brats". Not worth forgiveness, not a well written character, but kinda funny with how nuts he is
@@minatoyuki4800 I'd agree, in fact I'd say one of the more compelling parts of Adachi's story in the spinoffs is that he isn't forgiven; he still acts like a dick, but he admits how Yu and the investigation team won out over him. The "redemption" arc he goes through is based on him coming to understand that if he had lived a bit more like Yu and learned to cherish the bonds he made, he would be much happier. Adachi's problems are rooted in his own actions, and there's no reversing the path he went down.
Now that we have Zenkichi to add onto the "cool older men" pile, I'm really starting to wonder what it is about all the heroic-aligned adult men in this series that makes them all so cool to be around.
@@Jfray252 I didn't relate to his perverted stuff but other wise he's a fun character that I'd put in A tier, it's saying something considering I fucking hate his perverted rants...i like being mean to him tho.
Ryoji Mochizuki only got to B im going to commit a crime ps of course his relationship with the protag had kinda romantic vibes in the movie, he's not only the protags literal soulmate but also comes out as bi if you romance him in p3p
Loving the Tier list, now what would be interesting is ranking All the music from persona 2-5, it would be interesting to see (remixes like the smash one and the dancing games would be cool but ik thats a lot)
Ryugi and Ann in D tier👎 Ryugi and Ann in C tier 👎 Ryugi and Ann in B tier 👍👎 Ryugi and Ann in A tier👍 Ryugi and Ann in A+ tier👍👍 Ryugi and Ann in S tier👍👍👍👍👍
Yeah you’re tastes in persona characters are extremely similar to mine. Aside from the fact that you rated Chie like mid tier in your other video, which I get she can be annoying in the spin-offs sometimes. Personally though I like her so much in the main game that any flanderization she received in the spin offs is null and void.
Huh, Thin Lizzy, nice. I'm a fan of "The Sun Goes Down" when it comes to them personally, but "The Boys are Back in Town" is always enjoyable to listen to.
idk if its a hot take or not because i feel like junpei isnt a character i see discussed a lot compared to ken or shinji, but i just have a really hard time liking him? junpei has this whole thing where from the first mission through most of the game you see this resentment towards you grow, but unlike almost every other persona character, he has no social link and you have no way to talk to him about it or try to acknowledge his feelings to actually solve the problem. you just sort of wait for him to sort out his feelings himself even though its a problem that directly should have involved you. i havent played girl mode in a while, but as i recall even when he did get a social link it felt tacked on and didn't address a lot of what i would've liked it to? i don't hate junpei but he falls into this weird realm of "just a teammate" for me. like, this is a character i wouldn't mind working with, but what i've seen of who they are keeps me from really ever wanting to be friends with them. the main character has no hand in the things that make junpei hate him, and i dont want to deal with someone who decides they dislike based off of things i didn't have anything to do with. yes he grows and changes like most everyone in this series, but that doesn't erase the person he was and the way he acted before that.
@@nekonomicon2983 That may have been intentional, or at least it felt that way to me. Think about how the protag gets involved with the group: 5: Discover you have magical power and share it with your friends. Form a team and be appointed the leader. 4. Discover you have magical power and share it with your friends. Form a team and be appointed the leader. 3. Move into a new dorm where everyone has a magical power. Discover you have that power too, be invited to join. Unlike the Phantom Theives or Investigation Team, SEES already existed before Door-kun. He he had the wild card and that made him the best person to lead in combat, but Door-kun was never calling the grand shots like Narukami and Joker are implied to. Most of SEES feel more like team mates than close friends because that's exactly what they are.
"yes he grows and changes like most everyone in this series, but that doesn't erase the person he was and the way he acted before that" That's what character development is, dude. That's what makes him more interesting than just the usual hunky dory Yes-Man that the Persona bro archetype turned into. I wish there was some function to post images in youtube comments, I have so many screencaps cataloging Junpei's journey towards growing to deeply care for the MC because those types of friendships just get me so in my feelings, it really is a very sweet payoff if you're paying attention and frequently speaking to him. Having them high-five every time they partner up in that dancing spinoff is just one huge reward tbh.
@@lindsfreey9080 i understand character development. most of the characters in the whole persona series change and develop and get better. that doesnt make me obligated to forgive and forget one's past actions, in fictional contexts or otherwise. its totally fine to like him and think his arc had good payoff, i just dont feel that way. its kind of like how, in my mind and from what i've seen, people acknowledge junpei's growth and grow to like him but i feel like a lot of people don't give yukari the same benefit. not counting the answer because everyone's characterization sucks in it, yukari clearly learns to apologize if she says something bitchy and it seems like she tries to mellow out and make up with mitsuru (who suffered the brunt of yukari's bitchiness early on). yet still a lot of people don't like yukari and its totally fine to feel that way even though i don't.
I think P5R Akechi is incredibly well written tbh He's not a good person, and I like that. He just wants to be able to have a friend but he's such an irredeemable douchebag wearing like 50 layers of masks because he doesn't want to vulnerable after Shido. And yet Joker manages to break him despite that. Idk. Maybe I'm crazy but I can't help but like him a lot.
Tora is the only Confidant to figure out Joker is a Phantom Thief without him solving one of his problems in an extremely obvious way, so props to him for that ED: Also Emperor Arcana supremacy, damn
I'm late to finding your channel cause I didn't start playing Persona 5 until July 2021, but I mostly agree with this list except for Akechi. Granted this was before Royal so I get it, but I'm curious whether or not your opinion of Akechi has changed since Royal given how much more context he's given in that version of the game.
If the bastard unlimited (Shuji Ikutsuki) and the sewer rat (Adachi Tohru) aren't at least in A tier, I will personally teleport to your house and take away your fingers EDIT: I will be taking away exactly half of your fingers EDIT EDIT: Just noticed that you put Persona Jesus in C, I change my mind, you don't deserve any of your fingers
And also writers actually make those characters like, wise and don’t just slap some stupid archetypes on them (like they would on teen characters) which is why those characters tend to be more chill and serious
@@FilthyKong junpei tier, at the very top. Junpei is the reason I kept playing persona. Junpei saved my wife and children from a fire. Junpei cured my grandpa's cancer. Junpei got chidori of all people, Junpei is a king.
I think the reason why the middle aged social links work better than some of the teens is because the writers aren't young teens running around school saving the world. They probably understand the adults better and naturally they can write interesting stuff with them.
