Idea is good, however, IMHO, suggest to do following. Small ( abt 7-10 mm long) suitable silicone tubing, slide on the rig before looping-tying-fixing in position. Using the double knot method as shown, to fit rig on, then the silicone tube to slide on the place of connection between rig and dacron connector. IMHO, it will for sure, secure the loop rig line around dacron line against self releasing. IMHO
You can use Dacron Connectors with almost every type of hollow pole elastic and thicker solid pole elastics. If you are using a very wide bore PTFE bush in the tip of your pole then you will need to use a pink or red Drennan Dacron Connector rather than the smaller green and yellow varieties.
+Shabba Ranks Dacron Connectors are extremely kind to the elastic but you should always check for signs of wear - especially if you have caught lots and lots of fish.
