i had a thought (OK, stop ducking down behind the blast shield) . . . if you don't always have a spanner ("wrench" to us uncivilized) handy to loosen the tool post, why not weld a socket to the other end of that 45° socket wrench for the tool holders . . . it's always right there.

One wonderful tip I have done on my second Super 7 which was in such a bad state we were given it free. Is to mill 2 mm off the top of the topslide so that you can get better adjustment. In fact the Myford needs to be about 3/8 " higher and of course they eventually did do a bigger bore to the spindle. I use ours most days. The rusty one spent 30 years in a workshop with a leaking roof. As did a Raglan 5. Bits are still trying to be freed 1 year later.

I missed your video last night as I went to bed too early. Luckily, I'd just finished catching-up when this video dropped. All done and thank you.

I would think tacking like you did would be enough, but with heavy items in it, I don't know, but great job! Thank you for your time showing this stuff.

only way the drawer would work better is if it ran on roller bearings(wonder if a thin layer of grease might help it a little)

looks like a few drops of cylinder oil needed on those slides. Just couldn't keep that one to myself. Enjoyed the vid, stay well and cheers!

I had an old grey beard welder tell me he could weld a paper bag to a telephone pole and not turn the paper brown. I asked him if he was able to fill a plumber's crack and he told me there's not enough rod in the world to do that.

Everybody knows that before you weld up a crack you need to drill the ends to stop it from propagating. They tend to buck a little bit when you do that.

instead of using small tack welds use small 2 or 3 inch beads every 5ish or so inches so incase you place something heavy in the drawer if won't snap off if it ever starts to rust. or if you didn't get enough penetration
