I have a Uberti cap and ball revolver that I've been wanting to make a one piece ivory grip for, and today I finally did. This has been on my to do list for a long time! Let me know what you think.
That is a hard job. I remember trying to fit Colt grips on a Ruger Single Six many years ago. The wood on the Ruger has less taper than a Colt. I gave up and got use to the different feel. I should have just made my own. That way it's a fit to your hand.
Thanks for checking it out 57 Willys. I have a Ruger single six also and when I was in Alaska I got some whale bone which I turned into grips. And yeah, I belled them out pretty good.
Thank you Lucas, I appreciate that. No, I didn’t make my glasses but l’ve repaired them enough to claim l made them.🥴I think I will be making a replacement soon though.
I’ve made a lot of gunstocks and pistol grips over the years, but I’ve never tried a one piece grip. I have a reproduction 1860 Army Colt that’s a good candidate…maybe bone or stag…🤔
Hello Brian, thanks for checking in. I just stumble across it in antique shops or people find out l’m a scrimshander and bring me stuff. You can’t really just go looking for it.
