The nail is for locking the shifter in place so you can adjust it after. The small rose joint is for attaching aftermarket cables to the gearbox shift mount. Hope this helps

The part sounds like a good deal for £80! Any idea what labour costs would be like for installing? Doesn't look TOO complicated but a bit fiddly, panic mode on if they snap that spline, I can imagine that happening to me out of bad luck

Hi James, just a quick question. When you went from your 18 inch wheels to 19inch, has your speedo been inaccurate? Just curious if the wheels do anything to the speedo.
