I bought this BMW E46 M3 which was abandoned on the side of a racetrack. Ive been restoring it and fixing alot of the common issues such as the crack in the boot floor, rod bearings, oil leaks, worn bushes and much more. Yet it seems the more i repair the more i find that needs repairing. In this video i replace alot of worn parts and change them for upgraded parts in some cases from Mercedes AMG.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is my favourite build of a truly iconic car. It was so satisfying to see that video from the BMW mechanic which apart from a couple of minor issues was a big endorsement of all the work you've put into this lovely car. Keep up the good work 👏

I think you should keep the AMG logo on the brakes, it shows how much work you’ve put into the car and you should display it through that. If people get triggered by brand loyalty then they shouldn’t be on the internet.

no mate , it doesnt show anything. i am 99% sure this car is unrecorded , if this car was bumped . it would matter , but it isnt .who in the right mind would show the logo of a different car brand on a rare car like that. {and before you cry i mean the car is rare because of its color}maybe some one like you would , you might need to see the doctors. such a stupid thing to suggest to keep the amg logo on e46

The short shifter works by moving the pivot point (ball shaped section) higher on the lever. In the same way as moving the pivot on a see-saw would allow one end to travel more in respect to the other.

The brake disc and brake pads interact. If grooves are formed in the brake disc, the brake pads will show the same grooves. That is why you always have to also replace the brake pads if you want to replace the brake disc. You prevent uneven wear or damage the break disc.

3am and I've just binged 9 episodes with this E46. Got to retire myself for the night. Love the videos. Only got myself into cars/ DIY maintenance and improvements a few months ago at the late age of 29 with my old A4 Cabriolet as a means of practice and education before one day moving to a more powerful car when I can afford it. You're just making me want to go out and fix more things right now which I'm not sure is a good or bad thing :)

Matt, I gotta say man, out of all the builds I’ve watched you go through since I started watching your videos, which FEELS like 20 cars 😂, this has to be one of my absolute favorites. You’re killing it dude, this m3 is insanely gorgeous, and the direction you’ve taken it is exactly what I’m wanting to do with one. You never disappoint man, and that’s the reason why you’re one of very few “build channels” I even watch on this platform. I just wish I didn’t live in Texas and could take part in a giveaways in the hopes of owning any of these builds you have me drooling over nonstop 😂 The e46 m3 is one of my top dream cars. Want to own either a Laguna Seca Blue, or a Phoenix Yellow Metallic e46 m3 one of these days. I have my Estoril Blue e36 m3 that took a few years to find in the spec I wanted, with the factory options, and actual OE performance options I wanted, and am fully in love with it. Hopefully I can find the e46 equivalent one of these days 😬

I remember how I could only get one or two big stops before my 2002 M3 brakes would grumble. Never got round to upgrading. You smashed it. 6 pot fronts! My F82 comp only has 4! Congrats

Great video, A short shifter normally just moves the Pivot point higher so more movement at the bottom for less movement at the top of the lever.

A wee tip if you're going to open up the brake system, remove the reservoir cap and sink the brake peddle to the floor then jam it up with a piece of wood. You can then remove hoses etc without losing fluid and having Hannah tidying up your mess. . Ya dirty midden🤣

Had a recall on my e91 330i for A/C switch, which is known to cause the dreded fire behind the dash. Also had the BMW mechanic do me a video of my car, and was happy to have the all clear. Made my day

With the front end it's definitely worth looking at a set of Millway Motorsport top mounts to adjust camber etc as well as reinforcement plates to stop the turrets mushrooming.

The lower part of the shifter is shorter which makes it closer to the pivot point giving you a shorter throw

Mat just knows how to make cars stand out , fitting a massive AMG brakes to it was a bit bold but its better than the one it came with , the one thing your BMW is missing is the halo rings , they will bring that car up few years since its a BMW thing to have them , but other than that its a good looking car and you did some amazing work

I know you say there has been so many issues but it's been good to watch. One thing I would do is get the geometry set up from the lads at string theory garage in Stratford. It will drive next level I had the 718 done last week and the difference is night and day.
