Welcome back to my channel everyone, in this video I fit an ARB 4x4 Awning with Light Pocket 2.5m x 2.5m to My VW Transporter T5 Swamper!

I got my Fiamma brackets from here: ebay.to/317sKwl
Fiamma recommend using Sika 252 sealant for the brackets: ebay.to/319Ls6E
(I used PU bonding from Toolstation as I couldn't get any Sika at the time).
Watch through the whole process I take to get it on the side of the van using Fiamma Brackets which I modified.
It was a long process making this video, and there's a couple funny moments through out which you will see. I hope you enjoyed watching, I will be doing a full review and proper demonstration on the awning and light kit in a different video soon.

I’d recommend putting some sealant in and around the holes where the factory bolts were otherwise you’re likely to get water ingress

Thanks guys lovely bit of kit, well happy with it and the chairs! Hahaha, yeah I can’t say the guy picked the best place to fall off, especially in front of me whilst I was filming 😂 (p.s for anyone wondering he was pretty much at standstill on gravel when he toppled over, not sure how he managed it!) Lol.

I fitted the same brackets then found out you can also buy them in black finish in case other people are wondering. Sweet van 🙌

I had a Gulwing awning on a Landy I had. Good bit of kit. Might need to get the strap down kit, or in the wind you might struggle bro. Ive just fitted some roof rails recently. Decided not to go down the roof rack route. I can use my landy roof box IF more storage needed lol Bus coming along nice!

Hi Darren, Great video, thanks. How did you find out which brackets from Fiamma would suit your VW. I have a low roof Mercedes Sprinter and want to do similar but do not know which Fiamma brackets to order to do so and fit an ARB awning.

Hi Darren 👋 great video, it was really useful. I must’ve watched it about 6 times now. I’m not expecting you to know the answer to this but it’s worth a shot. I think I’m gonna order these brackets but I would quite like a half roof rack on the back half of my van. Do you think there’s a way to mount the roof rack on top of the brackets?

Thanks 👊🏼 and I wouldn’t have a clue tbh wouldn’t reccomend mounting any roof rack to an awning bracket, usually it’s the other way round

Hi Ian, yes it rolls up back in nice and easy, take a look on RU-vid at some of the other ARB awning videos you will see the demonstration. I will be showing how it’s done soon too 👍

Ian livermore I’ve seen awning fitted with the same brackets as mine with a pop top but the rear bracket is fitted more towards the middle as the pop top hinges would be in the way 👍

Hi Darren. I love those Australian shades that fold out along side and also around the back of van. But I had to do my sunshade a bit differently as the wife did not want a tube strapped to the side. On my old twin slider I had awning rails installed both sides and then had a custom cloth shade made (£180). It has beading on two edges and additional loops and some extra fittings so I can slide it into the rail in various different ways depending on what the weather is doing and which way wind/ rain is blowing etc. I bought some tent poles and I now have loads of different ways to put the awning up. The big advantage being its not permanent on the van, you can change sides easily, it can take really high winds and when rolled up takes up very little space. I am really pleased with it.

Hi Clive sounds like you made a good decision with both side rails, great idea that. I did think about something like that myself too but I’m not very patient with putting everything back in a bag neatly after I’m done. I suppose there’s a lot of pros and cons which ever option you choose though 😄👍

Tube Darren yes mate had t5 for many years. Old codger now (57) so needed a bit more space and to be able to stand up and cook in a bit more comfort.

Had one on my T4 for a few years now. I’d recommend pinning down the guy lines as soon as the blind is out. I’ve had the wind catch & bend the poles a few times. A 2mtr square tarpaulin tacked into one side is a nice addition (as used by Overlander)

Happened to me went straight over the van whilst I was in Romania the wind came out of nowhere 😂😂😂
