@@markhep Yea man I was like digger coming in here then you lads just roll up sleeves I know its not easy fair play :) If you could like the video again I would mate
Thanks chap. I'm just about to do some drain work in the next few weeks. I'm quite close to the top so will work back up the clay a bit so I have less fall on the pipe as its only surface water..... I also think you can have less drop on surface water.....
Hi mate nice one. Yes you don't need much drop on them. They also say you can have too much of a drop some times. just test it before you fill it in and you will be good 👍👍👍👍
Good neat drainage work Mark, well done. Neat trenches, well supported pipe work and even turfed to finish. Much better with the core drill Mark , saves a lot of making good inside and out. Top job Marra. Worked out that roof yet ?
Hi Mark, well done mate 👏. I hate doing drains & soakaways and the material costs are ridiculous. Backbreaking work with very little to show for it 😢😢. Regards Tim
Chears mate. Yere definitely a job no one gets to see. It's all the bloody fittings isent it they charge silly prices for. Bet they make the for a few pence too 👍👍👍
mark didnt see you test that run with a hose before you filled all that earth back in naughty boy, also is there not a connector for that stone manhole you would think some type of plastic screew in connector
Lol. I did test it just not on vid. Yere it would be ok with a fitting not sure they do one will look into that mate I just normally chuck a load of concrete round it 👍👍👍
thanks for replying - the council were so strong on this issue once , it could lead to some cutting corners which could cost some people great sums of money later in life ;
I'm aghast. Trenches about 300 mm wide when they should be 450 mm? (Ever heard of Codes of Practice or the Building Regs?) Breaking into an existing drain and ‘popping’ concrete into the trench (to 'seal' the penetration from soil particulate ingress, I imagine)? What did Building Control/your local water board say about that? (I assume you applied for a 'new connection to an existing sewer' and paid the £150 or so for the inspection?) How did you finish the penetration into the existing manhole on the INSIDE of the manhole? (See above re inspection.) How did you establish your levels? (Not a boning rod or traveller in sight.) On that note, what fall did you lay these pipes to? And did you check the gradient when you were done bedding your pipes backwards (see below)? No pipe test before backfilling? (I guess Building Control were definitely out of the loop, then?) Laying bedding AFTER pipe/inspection chamber laying? (Classic cowboy move. Piling in gravel afterwards is a sure-fire way to kick up the pipe.) Stamping down turf to BELOW ground level? (Ever heard of soil settlement?) I could go on, but I'll stop with the scariest aspects... 1) Damaging cables? Ever heard of the principle of 'dial before you dig'? 2) People on here applauding you. *** No wonder builders get such bad press...
It’s good to have such videos. We can praise the good work and highlight the non compliance to educate builders and others who are interested in buildings construction
No mate no depth to go down to. As long as you have a slow fall on it. Think it 1 to 40. So 1cm drop to 40cm long. Don't make the fall to steep. As the water will run quicker than the solids. The the solids will get stuck. Every one usley thinks bigger drop the better but. That's not now it works. Hope this helps 👍👍👍
Hi mate yes They normally come out and pass the off before you cover them. But they not doing demestic visits again yet so we just have to take pics. At min or they could watch the vid lol😂😂👍👍👍
Hi mate most older houses have rain and soil go into the same drains. It hasn't been passed off yet. But I will let you know if I have to put a soakaway in I think we will be good though. It shows it on the plans 👍👍👍
Hi mate I think the regulations are 25mm per meater of pipe. But some times you carnt get the drop. Depending on how deep your manhole is or main drain. The best thing is to put it in and test it. before youfill it in . If it runs away nice and slowly you have it right. Hope this helps 👍👍👍
