In this video I will be lifting the cabin back onto the chassis. Also the panels have come back from the sandblasters and have been sprayed in Epoxy. Will access the damage on the panels and start fitting the front end together.

Excellent episode as always mate. Definitely not a original concourse restoration! I like the workmanship on this car and it makes the mods very tasteful. Your vids have been a great tool for me, I’ve just finished a plenum/cowl replacement and watched your episodes on the job about 10 times! Keep it up 👍🏼

Love your work, as always! I found when removing/replacing the cab, an 8x2 plank through the door apertures works well...I used an excavator.
@ShenkeGarage
@ShenkeGarage 3 года назад
Yes I have seen that done before. Does it keep the cab square lifting it up that way?

Awesome stuff! Get the doors on and gap them. The doors will determine the guards, rad support etc. I found that when I did one at work the doors helped line everything up. I had to actually space out the front support to lift the whole front up as it was sitting way to low. That then made the gap on the sill really good.

@ShenkeGarage 3 года назад
Thanks Mate. I will hang the doors soon and align them and then match the rest from there. I was actually thinking that the radiator support might be sitting low. I will shim it up and see what that looks like. Hopefully aligns it better after raising it a bit.

A mate of mine was contracted to build the extended bodied Holden Ute ambulances. He taught me to hang the doors and work from there.

Loooking good. Keen to see how your gaps around the new cowl look with the doors on and how you do the stainless around windscreen with the deleted gutters

Coming along nice Sam. Would suggest hanging your doors as well when gapping it to make sure you have no surprises once in colour. Have you decided on the colour yet? Would think they would have blasted the panels with soda or similar. I blasted an XY years ago with soda. It is amazing how it rips all paint off but leaves the original OEM texta marks on the raw steel. Was that a sneaky shot of your next project sitting outside your shed?

Bloody he’ll mate. I didn’t notice ace outside in the video. I’m gonna have to go bac through and watch it again

Thanks Carl. Yeah I was going to hang the doors. I believe the cab and doors is what determines all the other panels. Not really sure what they used. They would not tell me but either way they came out without warping. Haha nah its not my next project. Used to be my Dads XR8 ute that I got when he passed away. It stayed in the Family and am just storing it for a month or 2.

Stupidly keen for this. There is really not many in depth build series on Aussie muscle cars. Great stuff

I agree. Apart from Barnesy Builds there is not much on the Holden H series. Its great being able to document the build in depth.

Always start from the back for gaps. 4 door do back doors first. The body doesn't move. Then move to the front clip.
