As a short lived student of former Southland Conference rival McNeese, I wish Sam Houston would win one. Especially since they’re only 2 years removed from winning an FCS title while still in the Southland Conference.

@@sportballotaku2139 It's interesting how well their once-rival JMU has done which also moved up to the FBS. The Dukes were a very respectable 8-3 last year and are 6-0 so far this year and the ESPN computer has them favored in all of their remaining games. I really expected SHSU to do a lot better than what has been happening. Btw, due to NCAA rules a team like JMU can't compete in any championship games for the first two years of playing as a FBS team so they can go 12-0 this year and just sit at home watching teams they beat play in bowl games.

Sam Houston had so many chances in regulation to put the game away. It’s rough when things are just never going your way. As an fsu fan we went through our drought recently and it felt like we were never getting out of it. Hopefully Sam Houston builds and in a few years pulls the switcharoo and is knocking off big teams

Sam Houston is winless, but easily could have three wins. They have lost games at the wire to Jacksonville State, Liberty, and FIU. Giving up the 4th and 18 with the game on the line to FIU was inexcusable.

I don't understand the new OT rules. Most of the time I see the team who was on offense first get the ball first in 2OT also, but here FIU was on defense first, and then gets the ball first in 2OT, like the old rules. Is there some sort of defer/choice the teams have over this, or do the refs just not know what the rule is?
