@@anickelsworthbiblereviews thanks for your recommendations. I should have been more complete when I asked the question. I usually read through a few different English translations to get a firm understanding like the NASB 1995, AMP and the NLT. I have the ESV but do not read it much and I also have a few NKJV around the house that I hardly read as well. They both read well it’s just I have not spent much time in them. However thank you and I will start to read those translations.
Months after the question but I'd like to recommend checking out the CSB translation. It's been gaining a lot of popularity as a "just right' blend of faithful translation with being easily readable and understandable. I say this as someone who is a big enjoyer of the NKJV and ESV but not so much the NLT, for what that is worth.
Former pastor's daughter here. I grew up on NASB (pre-1995 version, but have that one, too) & I niw use NKJV as my primary word-for-word translation Bible. Source manuscripts for the NT Thomas Nelson NKJV is the Textus Receptus; NASB uses "majority text" or "critical text," so there are differences. I also like A Faithful Version (AFV), which also uses the Textus Receptus manuscripts for NT. They have a website and a full audio for free. AFV is also available as an option on some apps (I think eSword & possibly Blue Letter Bible apps). I hope this helps.
