That old saying of it’s best to eat something before going shopping, applies to watching Becky cook. Does anyone else get hungry, while watching Becky cook? 😊She is such an inspiration ❣️THANKS Becky for your videos. Everything looks so very Yummy! 😋😋😋😋😋
When my children were in school and I worked full time the crockpot was my best friend because my daughters were always involved with school sports and practices so we could have a nutritious meal without grabbing unhealthy fast food 😊
I hope you show more insta pot cooking because I haven’t been able to get anything I cook init to taste right. I cooked chili beans in it and the ground beef came out like ash pieces but the beans were ok. But it couldn’t be eaten. I saw you cook potatoes in yours and they looked good and you said they were great! So I hope to have good food in mine with your help! I love your videos so please keep up preparing good food!
Hi Becky and everyone here. I read a lot of old cookbooks and have made a lot of recipes from them. This looks to me more like a fruit dumpling recipe than a cobbler. with cobbler I Think of Pie Crust or biscuits on top (as you mentioned, also called Pan Dowdy) Dumplings are this soft pancakey, Clafouti (the French version, also VERY easy and delicious). The latter tends to have ground nuts or nut pieces in it. Lots of fun. my mom had a crock pot but I've never used one. I like to minimize the number of 'machines' that I have and I can put a pot with a lid in a slow oven and do most of these things. Salutations to everyone here on the Homestead and in the worldwide community, Jim Mexico
Someone may have already said this, but in case you didn’t know… You can use your instant pot like a crockpot AND it has a searing/sauté feature so you can cook it all in one pot! 😊
I’m not impressed with the sear feature on my insta pot. I’d rather pan sear.. and it’s not as big as my crock pot. The only thing I make in mine is hard boiled eggs 😂and they come out perfect every time!
Hi! I just wanted to let you know, you raved about the corn you froze so much over the last year, that today when we harvested our 125+ ears of corn, I shucked, washed, blanched, etc and got it all in the freezer. I am beat…that so tired you want to cry tired…and realized I believe you did all that, and more, while expecting. Amazing! You are just amazing! Love your videos❤
I just made your Salsa Verde recipe. I thought I ruined it with too much lemon juice but then I realized I forgot the cumin. Once I added that it was delish. Can't wait to use it this winter over some enchiladas or what not.
My crock pot is actually a deep fryer with a ceramic liner - had it for more than 40 years. I can set an actual temperature, not just High and Low options. I could set a temperature that could cook for about 10 hours. When I was a single parent I would put the meal in the pot in the porning before work and would have a meal ready when I got home. Homemade spaghettie sauce, chicken cacciatore, chilil, sauerbraten, por roast, Irish stew. It was all good.
Hi Becky....my daughter and i live in different states in Australia.....you are our joint passion! Love all you do! Our inspiration! 😎👋 from down under
All of these recipes looked absolutely delicious! Crockpot meals are nice when you don’t want to heat up the house during a hot summer or when you know your going to have a busy day and no time to cook! When my kids were in sports or other after school activities, putting on a crockpot meal in the morning or early afternoon was a lifesaver!
Pot roast crock pot recipe-so good 3-4 lb chuck roast 2 med onions, quartered 2-3 stalks celery, chopped 4-5 sliced carrots Can of cream of mushroom soup PKG of onion soup mix Pkg of brown gravy mix 1 cup beef broth However many potatoes you want (3-4) chopped or diced Couple of tsp of worstershire, if you remember🙄 Screaming hot iron skillet with olive oil- Sear the onions and place in crock pot, add the carrots, potatoes and celery( my husband doesn't like celery so I leave it out- no worries-you do you) Mix the gravy and onion soup mix together and coat the roast I cut my roast up into thirds bc I have a round crockpot and the whole roast doesn't fit Then sear the roast on all sides Place in crockpot, add the cream of mushroom and cup of beef broth plus whats-her-face sauce Cover and cook on high for 4-5 hours or low for 6-8. When the meat is falling apart you'll know it's done. Great for leftovers, but it doesn't freeze well.
Even in retirement, I still use my crock pot. It helps me multi task in the kitchen just as you showed us. Food preservation while supper is cooking. I use it for small batch soup or stew making overnight on low. I get up the next morning and can it for a quick a supper or to gift to a friend that's under the weather. Thanks for some new crockpot recipes Becky! 😊
I like to use the slow cooker liners work wonders for easy clean up. I use my slow cooker on sunday, put it together and come home from church and dinner is ready and toss the liner makes for a easy day - also if you do potlucks and you have those liners all you have to do is toss the liner and go home with a clean pot. When my kids were little the slow cooker was great for when we had extra activies - nice to come home and dinner is already ready. A few of those recipes I have already tried and are saved in my cookbook. You rock young lady.
I love your recipes. Wholesome unprocessed ingredients, uncomplicated instructions, easy enough for beginner cooks. Plus your presentation is straightforward and matter-of-fact, without any hyperactive chatter-but you’re very engaging. Fun to watch. Subscribing.
New happy subscriber here! I just bought a crockpot (the last one died a sudden death) and am excited to try these recipes. I admire your veggie garden! 😍
You said you didn't have the green onions for the top of your soup, which looked yummy btw, you appeared to discard the celery leaves which you could've chopped finely for that, we always use the leaves too. We are in England and thoroughly enjoy watching you, getting hints and tips and inspiration for meals thank you Becky
This woman is incredible. I didn’t think there was that many hours in the day what she accomplish is is just absolutely phenomenal. I’m definitely gonna learn from her. Wow it’s really something and it’s still delightful because the information so well researched and and try it out. just everything has done for you, so if you don’t want to find an excuse to not do something here you are and the dishes are incredibly delicious. She shows you everything she does and tells you everything that she doesn’t and shows out to you also I can’t think of one thing that she’s missed and I’ve only watched, one of these videos and I’m just I’m astonished I’m stunned. I’m amazed in the most great way the only thing I haven’t seen and who knows I don’t know she just does everything in every video, but the only thing I noticed was that she didn’t sometimes double or triple up the recipe and at the same time do you know if she’s doing the one then she’s just got more casserole dishes out there in and she just keeps duplicating it for that amount And pours everything. It’s totally like fridge recipe individual recipe she just pours it out into a 9 x 13‘s or whatever you know size bacon dishes she wants to use. Anna cover some up and how she does with the foil and put some in the oven to bake cook whatever it is And when she takes them out I’m just surprised that she doesn’t have you know the three identical ones one for dinner that night one for you no dinner another night and one to give us a gift or somebody said a new baby and they need a respite. It’s just this is amazing. She is amazing astonishing I Telya I’m gonna start cooking this way because it just seems like more fun and a girl always want to have fun.‼️
So happy for your consistency. I watch you every night for inspiration. Current videos and old. Tonight was nice to have a new video to watch to give me a break from having no power or water from the hurricane. You are much appreciated! Hello from Florida 👋
16:26 Lol. I actually keep a jar full of cocktail size silverware, so I guess I’m team really little knife, fork AND spoon. 😉 I am loving that big wooden ladle! It looks like it should be dishing up some peanut soup or other African soup over an outdoor cooking fire. 39:33 When I was a kid, “cobbler” was frozen, canned, or fresh fruit on the bottom of a Dutch oven topped with a prepared boxed white or yellow cake mix, then baked in the oven. It was easy, and everybody loved it. Lol Couple of random things: Rare Seeds just posted a pumpkin leaf recipe. (I had no idea they were considered a food source.) Didn’t you can some baked beans a while ago? How did you like them? I saw a video today where someone used their overgrown summer squash to make mock pineapple rings and then grilled them. 😯
The crockpot fruit cobbler is a staple in the south cause you can throw it together with any fruit and pop it in the oven 350 for 30 minutes. You do it with self rising flour which omits the baking powder. Oh the crunchy sides are the best part!!
I don't know if you are feeding your celery leaves to the chickens, but I put a bunch in my freeze dryer and they are so good! Like fresh when you use.
I hope to try all of these recipes, they all look delicious! I had to laugh when you asked about the forks, I seriously thought I was the only one who was so particular about my fork, lol. It is great to know that I am not weird afterall (according to my family). I am definitely Team Little Fork 😂. I love crockpot recipes especially when it is the middle of harvest season or outside temps are hot. Thanks for sharing!
I side with Josh and my husband sides with you on the spoon and fork thingy! 😂👍🏻👍🏻 Great video! I needed a few more crock pot ideas! Blessings for you and your beautiful family! 🥰💕🙏🦋
Love this episode, I recently went to the store to look at crockpots. I use to have one, replaced with the instant pot but I really miss a crockpot. And those recipes looked so good. I’m a dump and go kind of lady. My problem is space in the kitchen. I mostly use my Pampered Chef air fryer, cusinart grill, instant pot. I think for my 65 bd in September I’m will buy myself a new crockpot.
Hi, Beck, your crock pot meals look great! I will have to try them. I use mine for roasts & some soups! So it will be good to try some new recipes! Your garden has exploded with great veggies & etc. Love it all! Thanks for sharing ♥️ ☺️🫂🍄🌞🪻🦋🫛🥬🥦🥒🌶🥕🌽🍊🧅
I am a little fork and little spoon person! Lol. I completely understand that divide! Lol. I am trying the Korean beef tomorrow! It looks so yummy!! I’m excited. I love that you try them and give your honest opinion!! Thank you! ❤
Thank you so much! Had an unexpected calk from my daughter and son in law that they were visiting....quickly made soup and foccacia bread and didn't panic! Thanks becky x
One of the things that I miss most about living in the Pacific Northwest is Tillamook cheese the Ice Cream! When you scooped the ice cream into the cobbler I could almost taste it!
You are so adorable! I am team big fork and big spoon! 😂😂😂 My favorite part of these videos is after you taste something really yummy, your eyes open super wide. So cute! Thank you so much for these inspiring videos! ❤️
I still prefer cooking on my stove and in the oven. The food just tastes better. I know life can get busy for some and the crockpots and insta pots are better than eating out when it comes down to it. Thanks Becky!
Cheese burgers soup so good give a try ! Chile in Winter and beef stew as well u can make chicken pot pie in the crock pot haven ten of us. It made my life easy !
I am a big fork, big spoon (for soup) kind of person. I have a long handled spoon that is in-between the size of the small and big I use for cereal. Do you have the recipe for your cucumber salad? That looks sooo good!! I love how you use a spatula to get the last drop out of your bowls when you're cooking. I see so many cooks pour their moist ingredients and leave so much in the bowl, drives me nuts. LOL! Everything you cooked looks delicious. Can't wait to try some of them! Really enjoy your videos. God Bless! 💖💖
I watch Chef Jean Pierre on RU-vid. He makes a cooked roux that he keeps in the fridge. It saves time. You might want to look it up and try it as a time saver since you're a very busy homesteader.
One of my favorite things to make in the crockpot is chili, and the other thing is a Mississippi pot roast. One tip for easy cleanup is to spray the inside of your crockpot with the nonstick spray of your choice.
I think you’ll like Japanese Niku Jaga. Works great with the thinly sliced shabu meat. Carrots, onions and potatoes from the garden. Really easy to whip up for a quick meal or cook low and slow for a rich stew.
I make mind in oven an it comes out delicious. Edges comes out golden brown an crisp. Same ingredients . Looks delicious Becky. Thank u so much for sharing.❤️just make it in oven. U will love it.
I use my crockpot for a slow cooked roast. I buy the cheapest cut of meat usually with more flavor and cook for 7 to 8 hours. It always comes out tender and juicy.
I have had a crockpot for like 40 years.. my original crockpot is still being used. I did Frank did well I didn’t break it the heat over use for all them years broke delayed. I contacted the crockpot company and they send me the lid for a small fee and they sent me a free crockpot for my story that I have been using my crockpot for years. I😮 don’t ever use another brand instead of crockpot., I don’t do Insta pot, I’m so old-fashioned I will do a lot of stuff on the stove top but I do use my crockpot plenty and it is really good for a great bread pudding . You should try it
Cabbage any root veg. zucchini all celery in any soup or stew without cheese and cream also very flavourful and healthy and filling, A suggestion to eat fresh and the best homegrown with love. Great garden Becky,
I make a similar peach cobbler. You’re supposed to use peaches in a syrup and included the juice. So that might have been part of the problem with it cooking. It was missing some liquid and some sugar.
I LOVE all your recipe ideas, the only problem I’m having is figuring out what to use when you are using an items you’ve made homemade add I don’t have that. Such as some ingredients in the Korean dish, the red spice and the vinegar. Would like to know what I can use in place of what you used
This is in no way a criticism!!! I love your content. Sometimes I really struggle to hear you with my volume turned all the way up. Maybe it’s just my device….I’m just wondering if anyone else has difficulties hearing you. I don’t want this to come across badly, so if it’s just me, I will just suck it up😂😂😂😂😂. Love your channel, and definitely don’t stress if I’m totally in the minority on this.
I am currently making the southwest chicken and rice meal in my crock pot. It looked so delicious, I just HAD to try it!! I'll have to let you know how it tastes 😊
Wonderful recipes; thanks for sharing! My Instant pot quit working so I’ll have to use my crockpot more! The company offered me 40% off a new one even though mine was 5 years old. I don’t know if I’ll buy another one yet. I may try a different kind. Have a great week🤗💗🇨🇦
I've made this cobbler for years, but never in the crockpot. It usually takes an hour in oven. I love to sprinkle cinnamon on top of mine before baking.
My 1st time watching you. I like the way you kept your skillet handle turned in . I don't think you have children but that is an important thing to do for people who have children in their homes. Ours 4 are grown and on their own. We both prefer to use our Salad forks.
Although I don't cook because I get tube feeding (for many years already), I still really love these video's! They are very educational and inspirational! ❤ And I'm on team big fork! Small forks are for children. 😂
The larger spoon is your soup spoon and the smaller spoon is your teaspoon (tea that one drinks) the larger fork is your dinner fork the smaller fork is your salad fork. So you guys decide, that is what my mom taught me, many moons ago. smiles
