I plan to update this video next year with adding a bit of elastic at the back of the end that would not have the drawstring. So it will then fit better as a hat. I did a short about this as well and it might have the elastic addition ... Thank you Rondi! Tori

I just subbed! You make it look so easy. I am going to try this. Susanna from Alberta.

Thanks Susanna ... I will have more fleece projects coming up soon. You can add a bit of elastic to the a few inches at the back seam, just above the fold on the inside part if you think you will wear it more as a toque. I will show how to do this as soon as RU-vid adds my community tab which will let me show alterations to the videos. Should be added any day now! In the meantime if you have any questions please let me know! Tori

What stitch do you recommend? Straight or zigzag? I’m trying to get back into sewing ❤
@madcaphats
@madcaphats 2 месяца назад
Krista I used a straight stitch as most of the sewing is just a seam straight up the back or near the top edge so there is really nothing preventing stretch around the head. Hope that helps! Tori

Oh…this is another wonderful quick sew that you have generously shared!🙀. I’ve already sewn up a few headbands by following along your vlog. I’m new to sewing and wondering what the fibre content of the buffalo plaid (?) is…I would like to have an idea as to what to look for when I purchase the material as well what size a toggle is best with the elastic you suggested. Forgive the questions….new to sewing and love your informative videos☺️🇨🇦 Thanks again for your time and sharing.

I used polar fleece, a brand called Winter Fleece, that is on fabric.com. Winter Fleece is a polyester product with a velour finish on one side. Make sure you buy a fleece that has this velour finish or non pill finish on at least one side. It really makes a difference! So soft and lovely even after lots of wear. The toggle size is a round toggle but a barrel works too. This is the same size that most sewing stores would sell is small packages of one or two. These are also called cordlocks. The company I buy them from is a wholesale supplier in Western Canada. The size is 23.5 mm with a 5.5 mm hole. Single hole. I hope this helps you on your sewing journey!!! Thank you so much for your kind words, really appreciate it! Tori

If that flag means you are in Canada too, check out the fabricville website for the fleece and paccana enterprises for the toggles and elastic in bulk!!

Don't understand why you made an unsewn part and the had to rip the seam. Please clarify?? Beautiful. Thanks!

Easy way to make a reinforced opening for putting the drawstring elastic into. Without any measuring really. I find this accurate and easy. Please feel free to do it anyway that feels right for you! Thanks for watching and for your great comment. Tori

The side that goes up and down. Not the side that goes around your head. Hope that helps. Tori

I couldn’t understand why you closed up the turning seam, then upended up a seam just above it to run thru the elastic.
@madcaphats
@madcaphats 2 года назад
Hi Sandi ... If you have the elastic across your nose, I just wanted the softness of the fabric and not a seam ... putting the join of the tube in a place on the piece where it will be most comfortable. It is up to you to place that wherever you think it works best. Thanks so much for your comment and watching the video. Tori

How much of a holle is at the top for it as a hat?
@madcaphats
@madcaphats 2 года назад
Hi Sandra ... It will depend on how thick the fabric is. it is not a large hole at all, maybe between the size of a nickel and a 25 cent quarter? Strong elastic and strong toggle will help close it almost all the way. Hope that helps, Tori
