Whenever I'm in a sketchbook I think, "Wow! This is my best sketchbook yet!" And immediately after starting the next, the previous one looks terrible! Although I always keep my old sketchbooks because even if I did not execute an idea well, the idea is still in there. :)

Me: I don't wanna draw today, my art is crap anyway Waffle: *post a video while showing her sketchbook* Me: OMGGGG I HAVE SO MANY IDEAS NOW

Hey Waffles, I have a suggestion for you. You said a few years ago in your Rapunzel drawing that you didn't want to draw her crown because it was too complicated. Well, now that you've improved as an artist, why not draw the crown this year? Just a thought. 😋

Another tip is that you can achieve contrast by playing with colours. Colour all scetches with cold colours and only colour one with warm colours. This will immediately bring viewers eyes to the warm drawing. You can also colour other scetches lighty and only the best one full colour

Cram the page with as many doodles, sketches, finished illustrations and/or poems as you possibly can and I mean ALL the sketches! Once you've done that you can add some more sketches and maybe a couple more doodles. Just make sure every spare inch is full of something creative or doodle-y. okay i have to stop now but doodle-y is a word, I say it all the time. xD

just finished watching the video, opening my sketchbook trying to do these tricks and tips immediately. looking up on google on how to spell immediately. lol

I kind of think it's important to realize that a sketchbook, in the end, is for your own personal practice. At least if you don't plan to use it for your college application. It's not a good idea to limit yourself by pressuring yourself to draw well because people will look at it. That sort of defeats the purpose. That is not to say that the tips are bad, they are DEFINITELY helpful. I just think it's good to keep in mind that your sketchbook doesn't have to look like an art book print

I add comics to my sketchbooks... I don't know why, but I usually just get this urge to make a comic at least once with every sketchbook, and it sort of adds a fun something to interact with in there (if I let people read them). So yeah, there's an extra idea if you're interested in trying it out. Love all these ideas, I definitely plan on giving them a try!

It seems like you have a more product-based view of sketchbooks, which is totally cool, but I have a more learning based idea of sketchbooks and I think of sketching as practicing different things whenever I want to draw rather than filling sketchbooks. These are cool tips, and I could learn from them, but they don't really apply to me.

Ah such a nice sketchbook and great tips! The one with sticking sketches into the sketchbook is something that I started to do a while ago. Now My finished sketchbooks look even bigger than before :D but it´s so nice to look back at them and see improvement over the time

"subDUDE" ha. This video was actually fun and informative!!! Doodle-y is a word (to me xp) whether people like it OR NOT!!! I often like adding watercolor washes in the background of my doodles because it looks so boring in black. Thank you again for inspiration and that added waffle-y ness (see, told you it WAS a word xD lol) in the video. Ok so Before you do what I did and become insecure to her drawings remember, please. She is quite a pro. You're just beginning. It's fine to not do amazing right now and anyways. You got your own way of expressing youself through your art we all do. Don't be discouraged it just takes time.

Another thing I learned in graphic design: CARP!!! Contrast Alignment Repitition Proximity Of course, it was meant for typography and logos but u can find a way to incooperate it in ur art!

I have read many rude comments about you, this might be hard to take in, but probably more than the positive ones, you might have seen them, and if you have, know that your inspired fans will be the closest to you during the cruelest times, right there next to you. To make you smile, happy, and at the edge of the world! (Not literally because that is probably not a good thing). This situation is like nature; you are the plant, the haters are the pesky insects, and your fans are the beneficial insects, eating up and destroying the pests! (Sheesh that was violent) I’m not going to say you are talented, because you are not, you WORKED for it. An example is your Rapunzel drawings, the thing when you see how much you improved over the past five years? When I saw the videos, I might be blind, but I am pretty sure that each one is different. You worked on it. If you were talented or gifted with a skill of drawing, all of them would look practically the freakin’ same. NOONE is born with a talent, they work for the talent they chose to work for. This is very helpful! I think too often i'm always trying to make a finished work on every page, or i just hav my "quick sketch" pages. I like the idea of the washes, and filling more space with several sketches; some being just less fleshed out. I've been working with size contrast with my different sized microns. But i do think applying some of these tips will help add that little extra focus or pop where i need it. Btw just found your channel earlier this week and i love your work, and your personality, i immediately subscribed aftr 1 video. Looking forward to watching more!
