Ok, ok, I know we are all expert Euro nymphers! I am almost positive that when fly fishing using the Euro nymphing technique that you at some time or another will have done one or all of these mistakes. I know I have, I also know that when I really think about each of these five points whilst fishing I can correct them. When I go out fishing I always try to be mindful of what I am doing and how I am fishing. Sometimes though you just can't help yourself.
Let me know if you are brave enough how many of these faults you have in the comments section below.

I remember when the first brass beads became available to us. It changed the way I fished from day one. Being able to bounce your fly along the bottom, changed the way I fished! You could feel the difference between a rock and a fish, it was incredible.

Evolution, move forward or stand still, with fly fishing you have luxury of choosing. I heard about your father Kerry and I am sorry for you loss.

Had a fllyrod put in my hands at 7 which was 64 years ago. Long before Euronymphing became a buzz word, we called it high sticking or tightlining..

Contact Nymphing, Spanish, French the list goes on. Nymphing has been around forever like most things in fly fishing Glen we love reinventing the wheel. Thanks for watching 👍

I loved this. Gently informative. On the last "sin" I would add that you are always forgiven and blessed when you "look around." Missing a trout is a bummer. Missing the beauty of nature is much worse. That said, watch and sense you line! (Shoot for 96.8% of the time).

Love the overhead shots really shows the technique. I think the issue has been that there are so many different vids about but very few of them show the casting distance. Ps Have You tried the Hanak Wave 10ft 3wt a more budget friendly version. Very interested in this rod but no reviews anywhere

Thank you for the great nymphing content Lindsay. When you are nymphing areas with lots of vegetation, like you were in parts of this video, do you try to treat the top of the vegetation as the bottom or still try to get all the way down to the soil? I am just starting my journey, but have not got on very well with vegetation.

There will be natural channels through the weed you have to try and get your nymphs into those channels

Lindsay, sorry if this has been asked below. I was taught that if you are fishing 3 flies then the middle should be the heaviest. You seem to suggest that the point should be the heaviest. What is your advice? By the way this I am looking for your advice and not expressing an opinion because I am absolutely rubbish at euro/Czech nymphing!
@lindsayiflyfish
@lindsayiflyfish 11 месяцев назад
There is a school of thought that would suggest putting the heavy fly in the middle. The lighter fly would then waft behind it. I as a rule only fish 2 flies when Nymphing only a personal choice. Sometimes only one fly.

Decent euro nymph rods have the first stripping guide on the first section of the rod
@lindsayiflyfish

Not always, I have fished with a lot of high end sticks and not many had the first guide close to the handle.

Why des my line keep angling back twards me when drifting? You boys get nice right angle (or slightly less) drifts. My line ends up smewhere between the rod tip and the reel, at a really sharp angle. its really bothering me. What am i doing wrong?

History and traditions are important. So is knowledge built from years of dedicated time on the water. The question to ask yourself is always do I fish like my great great granddad spend all day repeating the same cast same fly same presentation eventually the odd fish will take. Or with modern tackle and methods you can target the fish with the right fly presented in the correct part of the water column. In the way the fish are actively feeding. So do you want to actually catch fish or chuck fur feather and thread then put it in the lap of fate are you even going to see a fish? You point out the ways that give us the info that improve our prospects of getting more enjoyment from our day
@lindsayiflyfish
@lindsayiflyfish Год назад
I am a big fan of each to their own pal. I caveat that with if you want to encourage younger people into the sport you have to give them the best chance of catching fish.
