Here's my thing: If you were expecting straight-up horror without lore, which feels like a lot of critics were, I assume you only played FNAF 1, and this wasn't for you. If you were expecting something to loyally follow the canon from head to toe, more reasonable expectation, just not what we got. I went in there expecting a retelling of familiar elements in a new context - best comparison I can think of is the Power Rangers TV Show versus the Power Rangers 2017 movie. And in that regard, this puppy SLAPS! It is a love letter from top to bottom, even without Toreador (pretty sure that's the name of that soundtrack you called out for not being in the movie; and given how we got THE LIVING TOMBSTONE as the credits track, it was a fair trade). And it had horror moments, few enough for someone like me who hates horror usually to feel comfortable, but also give me that Litmus test of if I want to dip my toes all the way back in. Then again, I'm a guy who joked about Security Breach Freddy doing a "We are Venom" joke with Gregory inside him, so what do I know?
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this movie! I watched it with my friend and it was great. Seriously I could pick up on the 4Shadowing and Afton was truly terrifying. Seriously it was a lot of fun.
Now all three of us have the ability to open portals. Welcome to the dimension jumping squad, Tony. XD Getting on topic however, it's really nice to see you and DS collab together again, and this is a pretty good video.
Nice review from both of you. I saw the movie in theaters and thought it was OK. It will surely please the FNAF fans, but I was disappointed in the lack of scares, especially when A) PG-13 movies are capable of being more scary to maintain the rating, and B) I agree with DS about Coraline (which had a PG rating) being more scary. Though for the few moments that were scary, they did pay off. My only nitpick with your video is that for DS' score, you used a black border with a black screen, so it looked non-existent. I personally would've done red or grey, or at least make the screen just a bit brighter, but that's just my personal preference. I would probably give the movie a 6 or 7/10 as well, and I personally don't see myself watching it as much as Detective Pikachu, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, or the Sonic films.
Ah so destroyorshy was the one who joined you for this review. That’s great. Wish I would have joined cause I have a lot to say as well but I hope you had fun with him. As for my thoughts on the film. I loved it, it’s not perfect still amazing. So I would say it’s a flawed masterpiece. I plan on reviewing this film on sok
Honestly I think it was a really fun movie but I do have three major issues with the movie One: the security doors where not featured or used at all. Two: Aunt Jane just sort of vanished and a dead body in Michaels house would be pretty incriminating and due to his already bad reputation (beating a man up in broad daylight) he would probably go to prison for "killing" his aunt and the police wouldn't belive him if he said a giant animatronic mascot possessed by a dead kid did it. Three: the Freddy power outage wasn't in the film.
The Banana Splits Movie was alright. Willy's Wonderland on the other hand was so fun. I really enjoyed Willy's Wonderland. Anyway, the actual FNAF movie is amazing. I liked Michael Afton's character.
Woah, I was wondering when Destroyershy would join you in a collaboration after you joined him in sinning Dartigan's Sonic Frontiers video (which was eight months ago), but I didn't think it'd be this video. Can't wait to see what you two have to say about the FNAF movie later today!
Great video as always tony! I really loved that Destroyershy joined you as well.... i haven't seen the movie yet but i likely will at some point. so... question for both of you... would you consider working together on an eraww video in the future? I would love to see that!
I give it about 7/10 as well I like they did a descent story but man is so much FNAF 1 missing yeah you got the robots but you don't have the night time stuff closing the door or Foxy running at the hall to the door ready to kill you and did Vanessa need to be in this movie? And why make her William's daughter now lore people will think it confirmed that she is his fourth child in the game lore even though that's not possible for the game lore Not to mention the one scene where Abby is having fun with them and they fall on the floor relaxing that felt more like a fanfic then it did official and did they really have too keep some of the kills off screen? Come on now I wanted to see some good kills oh wait.. It's PG-13 of course the kills are going to be low but despite my problems I do like the movie
I'm not saying I like the choice, but to the extent they were like "These are innocent kids in these suits, we should reflect that" I was like "Meh, why not."
The movie definitely had its great parts. But sadly the bad pacing and lack of the “scary” aspect brings it down. I thought it was decent but definitely could’ve been better.
I really liked the movie and the various reffrences to the games, even if the movie wasn't all that scary for the most part. Also do you subscribe to the theory that Mike's brother will return in the sequal as the Puppet?
The main problem with that is the animatronics are meant to be scary. Even though they're possessed by kids, they're also quite murderous and vengeful. So the sequence where they bond ruins any horror the animatronics might have had before.
@tonysonic456 fair enough, honestly if the movie had more scary scenes with the animatronics people wouldn't complain that much. But honestly it felt refreshing to me seeing a softer side. Also, disagree on your Willy's Wonderland take. Nicolas Cage always elevates a movie to an ironic enjoyment .
I'm sorry, but I hated this movie. My mom, sister, and I all went to see it and we all didn't like it. We found it to be very poorly written. One of my biggest issues is that the villian is barely in the movie
@@AlexPerrine Oh my god with this... Ignoring my own personal annoyance with this, Tony has made it explicitly clear he's not covering him anymore. You can ask him yourself if you don't believe me
@@tonysonic456 the concept of the movie was in 2013 and the creator even stated he never heard of fnaf before the criticism also and as a long time fan of fnaf there are no similarities besides the killer animatronics
@@tonysonic456 one big reason I don't like people calling willy's wonderland a fnaf ripoff was this movie was a labor of love from everyone involved this movie almost didn't get made because they barely had enough money and the pandemic didn't help any I hope you understand why calling this a fnaf ripoff is kinda of an insult too the hard work everyone put into that movie
