Last week we got the official trailer for the FNAF Movie, and a lot of people fell in love with it. As for me, well, it's a mixed bag. The actors are great and the animatronics are super accurate, but there's a lot of issues in it that I thought about fixing in this little fan-edit of mine.
For starters, I removed the over-excessive use of the Toreador March. I know to many it's like the theme song of the whole franchise but, it was really just a piece of classical music used by Freddy when he's in the kitchen, or when the power runs out. Plus, it just makes the whole trailer feel more cheesy than scary. So, I just had it be played during the part where everything in the building turns on (although I changed it to a different part of the song to match how it was in the leaked trailer), and very briefly when Abby is looking up at Freddy (also I changed Freddy's eye color in that scene from bright-orange to pale-blue so it could be more of a reference to how they are during the power outage in the game). The rest of the music is replaced with The Sand Temple (the menu music of FNAF 2), some original ambience music made by yours truly, and the trailer music for Sister Location.
Almost all of the scenes in the pizzeria were desaturated a bit, as another problem I have here is that, while the look of the film is decent, it's also way too colorful, whilst in the game it's more gloomy and eerie.
Some lines that were either awkward or were too expositionish were cut, like Mike saying he'd do anything and just says nothing afterwards, him clarifying the children possess the animatronics, Vanessa saying they want to make Abby like them, and Mike asking how do they stop them.
A few scenes were cut for being far too silly and, like some of the lines, revealed too much of the plot, like Afton walking up in the Spring-Bonnie costume humming the Toreador March, Bonnie with the orange eyes (this one was cut more so because I couldn't figure out how to replace the eyes perfectly), and that stupid-ass scene at the end with Golden-Freddy riding a taxi. There were some others I wanted to remove like the shot of the kid with the unsubtle Foxy hook and the death-trap device Mike was getting put into, but in order to have the scenes flow with the music and have good pacing, I had to keep them in.
There were also some scenes from the previous teaser a while back that got inserted here, like the quick shot of the previous night guard getting cornered, and Abby hiding in the ball-pit only to get caught by Freddy and Bonnie (And yes, like every other edit of that scene, I replace the dumb red eyes with the classic white dots).
Oh and the cheap-looking title cards were replaced with something more akin to the trailers in the games.
