I finally got round to the final game in the Five Nights at Smudger's franchise so far, Engines at War. This game is a huge step up from the first three FNaS games - with new 3D models, voice acting, and challenges/boss fights that run alongside the core nights that need to be completed in order to finish the game. This game is really unique and fun with all this in mind - giving the game variety and additional challenges that give the game a level of replayability that isn't too common amongst many FNaF fan games.
The game aims to finish the original FNaS story, bringing back all the characters still under Stanley's control - with Proteus, Bertram, and S.C.Ruffy returning to attack us at a new location titles Gerald's Station. Along with them, Mowey the lawnmower, the Ghost train, and Diesel 10 try to get to our office, either attacking from infront or behind us. Whilst Proteus, Bertram, and S.C.Ruffy are definitely possessed by Stanley, and the Ghost train has a supernatural presence, we don't really know much about how Diesel 10 and Mowey got roped in with all this. The rest of the cast appear in the additional minigames, with a few new and obscure characters from the TTTE series (such as Bulstrode the Barge and Tiger moth). These missions vary from chasing the Horrid Lorries, removing landmines, surviving against the diesels, and fighting Thumper. Some of these minigames are quite challenging - the landmine minigame is genuinely hard.
Nights 1-5 have the same cast, with them slowly being introduced as the nights go on, with the aggression increasing at a decent speed. Mowey becomes a real issue in the later nights as keeping track of when he appears can be quite annoying if he appears at a time when other characters require immediate attention (i.e. S.C.Ruffy, the Train or Diesel 10). Night 6, however, changes it up completely with the cast being replaced with brand new ones. The new characters are Ratchet and Davenger (two FNaS originals and two of Stanley's henchmen), Gerald (the narrow-gauge Princess class who the station is named after), Bulstrode the barge, and Thomas the Tank Engine. Night 6 is quite a challenge, with the soundtrack making the situation a lot more stressful - especially at 5am, it makes things a lot more stressful.
The final boss fight in the game against Stanley is tricky but pretty fun. Stanley has a few attacks, but is doable after a few tries. With Stanley's death, it means that everyone should be free from his control, which leads us to Smudger's 5. Smudger's 5 is yet to release as of the recording of this video, but from what we've seen from the demo and a couple teasers, it's definitely unique - with it not even being a FNaF fan game at all, following the story of Smoother, a demonic Jennings 0-4-0T (Smudger's older brother), along with other obscure TTTE characters such as Sixteen and Timothy the Ghost Engine. I'm really looking forward to this game as I'm interested in seeing where the story will go (and whether this will be a finale to the Smudger series, or if it will set up a Smudger's 6).
As for this game though, I still think it's a great game with a lot of replayability (especially the boss fights). It's story is very rich and interesting to follow, with the additional cutscenes providing lore as to why Stanley and Smudger dislike eachother, and why both dislike Duke. The FNaS 4 cutscenes video is my most viewed video by a mile - crossing 100k views the other day which is insane to think about (thank you all for that). This series has had a big impact on this channel, and whilst I don't know why this series specifically, I appreciate all the support regardless and I hope to return to this series soon when Smudger's 5 releases.
